  • Chris Lum is widely considered to be a key player in the development of the San Francisco house scene. He has been heavily involved in its development as a producer, retail figure and well-respected DJ. Originally migrating from Los Angeles, where he helped open the now internationally renowned record store "Beat Non-Stop", Lum took on as the domestic buyer for San Francisco's first dance music store, "BPM Music Factory". It was during these infant days in the San Francisco scene that he quickly developed a reputation as the man behind the influx of previously unrecognized music into San Francisco's late-night underground clubs. As a DJ, Chris Lum is well respected and his name is still associated with timeless parties in San Francisco. He is respected for his classic house sound, solid mixing skills and dance floor energy. With partner Jay-J, Chris also runs San Francisco's prestigious recording facility, Moulton Studios. Moulton Studios is home to some of San Francisco's hottest producers. Based upon the highest standard of quality coming from the studios. Most recently Chris has established a reputation as a solid producer, with a unique style and distinctive sound..Pumping beats to get the crowd moving and deep moody layers to deliver his messages. Releases from Tango, Siesta and NRK are a testament to Lum's reputation as a producer on the rise. Chris hopes to return to the creative outlet he loved as a child, writing. He hopes to build upon the experience that he had with Soulfranciscans. "Give It Up" out on Chez Music and Jay-J's "Soul of Mine" on Distance . One of Chriss most enjoyable aspects of production is the collaborative process. Chris States, "Im always interested in experiencing the dynamics of 2 individuals creating one sound coming from two completely different perspectives." "Its like having no knowledge of chemistry and mixing two different chemicals together and waiting to see if its going to explode or fizzle." He adds, "Its the anticipation that intrigues me." In the future Chris will continue to build on his resume of releases and explore his inner most self, this according to his therapist.
