  • Sama + Hidden Recordings Present: Xhin (Stroboscopic Artefacts | CLR | Meerestief) [NY Debut] Syed Raza [Subfractal] (Harthouse Mannheim | Sleaze Records | Excentric Muzik) Deepak Sharma (Hidden Recordings) Nunzi vs Rohin (BEEF Records) Time: 12:00 am - 6:00 am (Doors close at 4:00 am) Cost: $10 before 1:00 am with RSVP, $15 after RSVP: [email protected] Sama and Hidden Recordings have teamed up for this very special event to bring you the amazing Xhin from Singapore. This will be his New York Debut, so please join us in welcoming him to town! Artist Info: Xhin Xhin (pronounced as ”sheen”) has been crafting ominous cuts of cutting-edge electronic music since 1997. Building a forte in sound design, he is best described as a sound futurist. His identical rhythmic structure and compositional techniques which incorporate elements of techno, tight sub bass, ambient and IDM delivers a hint of chaotic soundscape amidst artistry. A Singaporean by birth and residence, he independently released ”Xycle”, a self-promotional ep that made the industry to stand up to take notice, in early 2003. He then followed with his debut album, ”Supersonicstate” the following year. An active DJ in the Singapore club culture, he has played extensively at a number of clubs and events like ZoukOut, Good Vibrations, Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival, Singapore Fashion Festival and for fashion label Woods & Woods runways. In 2007, Xhin was invited to play at the important electronic music festival, C/O Pop in Cologne Germany and the first outdoor electronic music festival in Hanoi, together with various good acts from the far east. Besides releasing and remixing, Xhin also got involved in various miscellaneous projects like producing music and sounds for Nike, Nokia and fashion label like Woods & Woods among others. He also appeared as a special guest tutor on electronic music production using Ableton Live for Red Bull Music Academy Info Sessions II in Singapore. In 2009, Xhin joined Berlin’s new techno label, Stroboscopic Artefacts to release his dark, intense and experimental sounds. From the results of his new releases for the label, he has done it again. Heavy rotation from the big boys like Speedy J, Luke Slater, Ben Klock and many more. This will be yet again the beginning of an old new direction for him to explore and experiment sounds even deeper for his future releases. http://www.beatport.com/artist/xhin http://www.xhin.com/ http://soundcloud.com/xhin Deepak Sharma In the transient world of dance music where DJs come and go, few have the will, patience and devotion to stay relevant in the ever changing landscape of 'the scene'. Deepak Sharma has carved his own path, and with passion and focus has been able to keep his finger on the pulse as techno continues to evolve. Born in New Delhi, India, but raised State-side, Deepak recalls the early days of his childhood watching and listening to his mother strum the sitar for hours on end. Unbeknownst to him, that sound would have an influence later in life. Deepak found himself gravitating towards a wide range of music from jam bands to hip-hop where strong lyrics and the beat would evoke an impulsive emotion. Throughout all of this was his mantra that music should elicit a response, but still needs to be fun. Fast forward to today, you have one of the most consistent players in techno, from releasing a mix compilation in 2004 that De:Bug Magazine called one of the best mix comps they've heard in ages, to traveling globally to DJ, starting his own label Hidden Recordings while collaborating with Germany's Dieter Krause. Over the past five years, Hidden Recordings has gone from a small digital dream, to a budding international label beloved by thousands throughout the globe. Growing from the duo to releasing artists hailing from Europe, North and South America both vinyl and digitally, further distinguishing Hidden Recordings from the rest. The buzz stirred up by Deepak and Hidden Recordings in 2010 is palpable as the label has seen a dramatic rise and significant impact made through the techno community. Already featured in Time Out New York, Ibiza Voice, Sweatlodge Radio in Berlin and Carl Cox’ Global Radio Show, the releases have been supported by the world’s most respected and beloved DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Magda, Speedy J, Paco Osuna, Troy Pierce, Cari Lekebusch, Drumcell, and Marcel Dettmann. The feedback speaks for itself, but so does the involvement of remixers for the 12th and 13th release who are some of the most in-demand and beloved names in techno such as John Tejada, Argenis Brito, Ambivalent, DJ Qu, Franklin De Costa, Alexi Delano, and Rene Breitbarth. There is no slowing down with the 14th release, out later in July introduces the young Marseille duo, M.A.D.A. & Plankton to North America with heavy bass blowing remixes from Sasha Carassi, Alejandro Trebor, Mike Wall, Michael Schwarz and Felix Bernhardt. http://www.beatport.com/artist/deepak+sharma http://www.hidden-recordings.com/ https://www.facebook.com/hiddenrecordings http://soundcloud.com/hidden-recordings Syed Raza [Subfractal] One half of the duo Subfractal, Syed is a relatively recent transplant to New York. Initially starting his musical career in Toronto, where his partner Fahad Ahmed and him met, Subfractal quickly established themselves as staples of the local techno scene. Having released on reputable labels such as Harthouse Mannheim, Excentric Muzik, Sleaze Records, Bosphorous Underground, Frequenza, amongst others, 2009 saw their remix of Larry Power's 'Milk' at the #1 spot on the highly competitive Beatport Minimal charts for over 6 weeks, furthering their reputations as forward thinking producers. With features at the Winter Music Conference in Miami and at the Detroit Electronic Music Conference this past year, as well as having played numerous international shows, we can’t wait to see what the new year has in store for them. http://www.beatport.com/artist/subfractal http://www.myspace.com/subfractal http://soundcloud.com/subfractal Nunzi vs Rohin Originally a production team cultivated a year and a half ago, Nunzi and Rohin are quite new to the New York scene. Nunzi had been producing and DJing for about two years before he met Rohin through a mutual friend at New York University. Since then they have played clubs such as Love, Katra, Webster Hall, various underground parties and multiple venues in Toronto. Last summer marked the release of their first EP entitled "1950" on BEEF records, and since then they have been working on formulating their sound both independently and as a group. http://www.beatport.com/artist/rohin http://www.myspace.com/rohinproductions http://www.beatport.com/artist/nunzi http://www.soundcloud.com/djnunzi
