The urban backdrop of a city has almost always provided the arena for seminal electronic music scenes. From Detroit to Berlin, from Chicago to London, theses metropolis' seem to fuel the music that powers its afterhours athletes. In a new series of events that aim to capture the essence of these pivotal moments in house and techno, 'Sound Of The City' will bring the sincerity and vibe to unique locations in London.
August 6th marks the start of this project and will showcase the sound of late 90's Paris in a never before used space in East London with Parisian icons Dan Ghenacia and Dyed Soundorom playing a special extended b2b set. Dan and Dyed have been the standout double act of DC-10's iconic Circo Loco party for years and their relationship together has made their extended sessions in the booth a thing of legend. Due to their busy schedule this is the only date they will be in London this summer so it promises to be a very special night. Not only is this a rare b2b event they will be adhering to the nights ethos and capturing that 90's Parisian vibe, this will be the only time you can hear them delve deep into this bygone era.
Dan himself feels very passionate about this era saying “The 90’s was when French producers took their first steps in the world of dance music, we were one of the last countries to be touched by House and Techno.” It was a time of embracing a new sound in a city where this sound was shunned and confined to intimate yet creative after-hours gatherings and his beloved Batofar partys. Along with Dan, Dyed Soundorom has been an essential part of Paris' sonic history and someone who has learned his trade from being mentored by Ghenacia in many ways. Since then Dyed has rocked almost all the the world's mmost hallowed dancefloors from Berlin’s Panoramabar, to Warehouse 702 in Tokyo, Fabric London and Studio 80 Amsterdam, just to name a few. But the sound of late 90's Paris is what crafted him into the globally adored Dj he is today. August 6th promises to be an emotional reunion with Dan and the sound which they hold dear.
We are proud to launch 'Sound Of The City' with the sound of Paris in a never before used space deep in East London, away from the increasingly commercialised streets of Shoreditch and Dalston to capture that raw and unadulterated atmosphere where this sound was born.
