ALEX SMOKE [Soma // U.K]
Alex Smoke is a new breed of electronic music producer.
While his music may reside on the dancefloor along with his renowned live sets, it also resonates so much further than this. With a production style drawn from a myriad of influences that blur the boundaries between Electronica, Techno, Classical and Hip Hop, Ales Smoke music evolves in new directions with every new project he undertakes, musically consistently fulfilling, regardless of the listener's preferred genre.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Alex's proficiency in multi-faceted electronic-beat-making is founded securely on a lifetime of classical training, nurtured not least by his mother, by profession a music teacher. At a young age, Alex received a coveted scholarship for Durham Cathedral Choir School, where he excelled on the cello, piano and drums. In fact, the very same voice that adorns his techno tracks, was once heard in Durham Cathedral Choir, albeit an octave higher. After a brief glitch, studying marine biology, Alex soon got back on track, wisely using his student loan to buy his first Apple Mac computer and simple software, giving his imagination the necessary tools to begin producing.
Throughout his relatively short career Alex has become an in-demand remixer, already with remixes for Steve Reich, Depeche Mode, Mylo, Junior Boys, Funk D’Void, Radio 4, Jay Haze and Envoy under his discography belt, to mention but a few. His dynamic live set has, since the first Soma release, been consistently in demand, leaving almost no country on the world map unvisited, nor unimpressed for that matter.

FIT [Fit Sound // U.S.A - Detroit]
FIT, (Aaron Siegel b.1983) is a rising figure in the Detroit underground as a DJ, label owner, and artist. FIT, got his start in music early on playing bass in punk bands at age 13 and working at a Detroit record store in high school. He finished school at age 17, and after a short stay in Australia, was back in the US studying film and spending late nights as a college radio DJ in Boston. Back in Detroit at age 20, he spent the next few years cutting his teeth DJing and promoting underground parties with the likes of Egyptian Lover, Aux 88, Legowelt, DMX Krew and Marco Passarani. In 2008, FIT launched a distribution company to support independent labels pressing vinyl in the city, and to embrace the new breed of labels sprouting up in Detroit (his company was the first distributor behind the young Kyle Hall's Wild Oats label.) These activities caught the attention of Underground Resistance's "Mad" Mike Banks, who has since taken FIT under his wing- schooling him in the ways of the music business and record production.
The FIT SOUND label was created so FIT could have creative control over an entire product, give personal attention to the artists in order to create the best possible releases and push a new experimental sound in dance music. Attention is paid to every detail- from the mix to the edits and he creates the artwork himself. The first release, Marcellus Pittman's "Erase The Pain" (FIT-001), received an excellent response and found its ways into the bags of many DJs including Theo Parrish and DJ Harvey. Harvey himself saying the release was "truly an advancement of music." The latest release by Anthony "Shake" Shakir, "The Drummer Downstairs" (FIT-003), quickly sold out.
In 2009, FIT was chosen by the French magazine "Under The Influence" to create a mix for their Detroit issue. Also in 2009, FIT was picked up by the brand American Apparel to program a weekly radio mix show for their store and online station Viva Radio. The show "House of Noize" currently plays Fridays at 6pm in every American Apparel store worldwide and online. 2011 began with DJ appearances in Bogota, Colombia and NYC, in addition to taking care of the label and distribution business back home.
His style is not limited by genres, trends, or any particular era. He views his records as textures and blends/programs these textures upon each other to create a raw, dark, sweaty enviorment of sonic energy. As a DJ - expect an unfiltered sound that reflects the mutant forms of techno and house music breeding in Detroit today mixed with his own twisted take on the past.
FIT is currently in the studio working on his own material, and handling business for the label's upcoming 2011 releases.
