Technically loads of people can DJ, but when you listen to a master you realise it’s a lot more then practise and bag of tunes. There are a million DJs in our fine country but (sadly) there is only one that plays with such a depth of understanding of dance music (and not just) and feeling – yes feeling – as this man.
Welcome to the world of Simon Caldwell.
Pushing two decades behind the wheels of steel, it’s fairly safe to say Simon has been there, done that. Hands up if you’ve co-promoted one of Australia’s freshest and longest running dance parties, Mad Racket, for the last 12 years. Tune thousands and thousands of people into underground house music every Monday on Sydney’s coolest radio station, FBi 94.5FM. Played hip hop AND house when the rest of us were contemplating suicide “trying” to do the same. Are the go-to DJ for anyone wanting to make sure they have the right warm guy for any big dollar house producer cruising into town or the second Australian to put together an RA Podcast – which is incredible.
You might wanna put your hands up a bit higher if you want me to see em…Oh, there are none.

From his beginnings in Funk and Hip Hop Simon has seamlessly found himself in the position of Australia’s number one House DJ – and when we say House we’re talking about the good shit – and probably includes some disco, techno, tech house and sweet genre-non-specific gold. You don’t get to play alongside Moodymann, Andy Weatherall, Pepe Bradock, Theo Parrish, Todd Terje, Derrick May, Grace Jones, James Brown or Carl Craig (to name but a few) on good looks alone – you’ve got to bring it, time and time again.
In this instance ALL NIGHT LONG.
Get your dancing shoes ready (and maybe bring some bandaids just in case) this will not be a night for heavy smokers, the unco-coordinated or people thinking it’ll happen again next weekend. As usual it's BYO so raid the nearby liquor shops beforehand. We'll announce the address on the week of the party.
