His music as well as his being creates unified melodies manifested with balance, life and wisdom. Hailing from St. Louis Missouri, a place known for pioneering jazz, blues as well, innovative artists like Miles Davis. At age seven Osunlade discovered the piano and the vision of his life’s destiny was born. By the age twelve he found an interest in creating and producing songs of his own, he formed a local band, taught himself several other instruments and studied further the development of his unique sound. In 1999, Osunlade would embark on what is now his dream come true. The founding of Yoruba Records. Recognized as one of the most important dance music labels worldwide, Yoruba Records is purely a source of music created to elevate the spirit. As the success of the label grew, so did the demand for Osunlade to expand. In 2001 he released his debut album on the respected Soul Jazz Records label. “Paradigm” quickly became on of the biggest house albums that year and dubbed him the messiah of ancestral house music. With the support of dj’s worldwide and his music now introduced to a wider spectrum of listeners, this veteran musician/composer/producer becoming the artist finally achieved balance within. Although his demand for production and remixes from labels and artists worldwide, his passion is in Yoruba Records maintaining its reputation of its unparalleled quality in music. With its own family of talented producers and artists developing and bridging sound and cultures, the labels’ evolution is endless and bright. // DEEP // DEEP is the legendary Los Angeles house music event created by Marques Wyatt. This free event will also allow you to experience Osunlade's sonic art from his latest album, Pyrography. Please RSVP to the e-mail below to partake in this special event. Pyrography is named after an ancient style of art, in which images are burned onto canvas using hot pokers or open flame. Osunlade explains, "I was introduced to Scott's work via one of the artists on the label. I immediately fell in love with the organic sensibility of the work. I contacted Scott and ventured down to Australia to speak further about the possibilities. We met and it was a kindred meeting". Pyrography is a joint project with Osunlade and artist Scott Marr. It contains 15 original paintings of the Yoruba deities alongside traditional never-before-published Oríkì's Yoruba prayers. Osunlade's latest album is called Pyrography, and according to a press release, it will be the producer's final house effort. Osunlade has always been an eccentric personality: an American expatriate living in Greece, and a devotee of the African tradition known as Ifá, who can often be seen with a long piece of bone jewellery through his nose. As a veteran DJ and producer, and the founder of Yoruba Records, his roots are in house music, though he's shown some very different sides to as style as well, most notably on his more songwriter-inspired album Rebirth from 2009. With Pyrography, he tries to bring these two elements of his sound together. "The whole idea for the album was to do something more electronic as well as include more 'songs'," he says. "Organic meets technology."
