REWORKS festival, the sun-filled music and arts gathering which takes place in Thesaloniki, Greece every September, is happy to announce the first live performers and DJs for its seventh edition. An eclectic mix of 70 acts will perform on 4 music stages on the 16-17 September. REWORKS are excited to welcome the legendary LAMB ( Fontana), who will be joined by N.Y finest Hercules & Love Affair (Moshi Moshi), whose second album was released to critical acclaim while Dubfireïs SCI + TEC & Border Community will host their first ever showcases in Greece with 6 acts, as well as a host of exciting electronic music acts including Cadenzazs Reboot, Miss Kittin, one of the best new acts of 2011 Art Department and many more.
Bringing together contemporary culture and forward thinking music in an urban environment, REWORKS is considered a touchstone for the music and creative arts in Greece and a showcase for new trends and emerging talent. It is a national meeting point for the musical youth of the country, and celebrated for its good value and quality programming, but is less familiar with audiences in the UK and beyond o in 2008, 2009 & 2010 it was voted amongst the best festivals in the world by the influential online dance music magazine Resident Advisor. It has also been voted as the 3rd best event in the Balcans on the SEEME awards.
Based around the close connection and ties between music, multimedia, art and culture, REWORKS presents new musical and artistic paths and directions in one of the most historic parts of the Byzantine city of Thessaloniki. Each of its previous editions has been a landmark in the evolution of forward thinking entertainment, featuring influential musicians, creative artists of both local and international origin and a great party atmosphere augmented by the amazing weather that Greece still experiences at the end of the summer. With over 500 artists and 50,000 people experiencing the festival to date, last year was the biggest yet, with 12,000 dance music fans in attendance over the weekend.
4 stages will present a broad spectrum of electronic music. House & techno, modern Jazz, Freestyle, IDM, electronica, new wave, electro, new rave and dubstep will be presented on the 2 outdoor and 2 indoor stages.
Thessaloniki is naturally a great holiday destination with summer temperatures during September, and the city surrounded by exceptional landscapes and beaches. REWORKS is therefore an attractive combination of entertainment, art and holiday.
