We Can Elude Control

  • This summer the Bold Tendencies sculpture project housed in a multi-storey carpark in Peckham hosts a free special event featuring performances from emerging and established sound artists and experimental musicians. The programme celebrates new strategies within sonic performance, reflecting on ideas of noise, texture and tonality, the legacy of minimalism and the evolving relationship between old and new media. The event features rooftop performances from Mark Fell one half of the cult experimental electronics project SND and an artist on the ground breaking Raster-Noton label. The programme also includes former Napalm Death drummer Mick Harris, whose seminal Scorn project has been indispensable in the evolution of British bass driven music, and also performing will the London based sound artist Shelley Parker who recently contributed the John Cage retrospective hosted at the De La Warr Pavilion. She will be presenting a special performance connecting the dots between bass heavy production, digital noise and found sound. Prior to this the lower level will host a series of conceptual performances by artists Tom Richards, Vasco Alves & Louie Rice and Emily Whitebread which will respond to the car park location. The project has been curated for Bold Tendencies 5 by Paul Purgas.
