The 2011 Treasure Island Music Festival, presented by Noise Pop and Another Planet Entertainment, is shaping up to be one of the year’s best live music events, celebrating the festival’s fifth anniversary with unmistakable panache. With headliners Death Cab For Cutie and Empire of the Sun, as well as sets by the likes of Death From Above 1979, Explosions in the Sky, Chromeo, Beach House, Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, St. Vincent and more, TIMF is the place to be for music lovers this fall. In addition to these incredible bands, TIMF will be giving fans even more to enjoy between now and the festival when they present six very special night shows throughout SF. These shows will be headlined by the likes of hotly-tipped up-and-comers The Head and the Heart, acclaimed artist JFK of MSTRKRFT, Sweden’s own Jens Lekman, the acclaimed Bay Area artist Thao With The Get Down Stay Down, and woozy popsters The Drums.

Selected for its stunning, picturesque views, Treasure Island lays just off the coast of Yerba Buena Island in the San Francisco Bay. When the festival of the same name began in 2007, it quickly became one of the premiere music events of the fall concert season thanks to its consistently fresh and exciting lineups (the festival has never repeated an act) and its intimate feel. A sellout crowd of just over 12,000 music fans per day descended on the decommissioned naval base last year to see headliners LCD Soundsystem and Belle & Sebastian.
