  • On Saturday 14th October we are honoured to welcome Paul Rose, better known as Scuba, to take over the decks of Plastic People for the evening in celebration of his contribution to the revered DJ-Kicks series. As a teenager growing up in London Rose was drawn to experimenting with computers, leading to an interest in techno, then drum n bass. Upon moving to Bristol to go to university he began a night called Hotflush, the name he would carry over to his label upon moving back to London in 2001. He quickly found himself in the midst of the burgeoning dubstep scene in the capital, in large part due to a residency at FWD>>, with his own productions recieving support from many of the key players. Eight years since his label's inception however, Rose is ever keen to emphasis his reluctance to be pigeonholed, and Hotflush has long since transcended the bounds of lazy genre labels to becoming nothing less than a go-to shop for forward thinking electronic music of all shapes and sizes. In the last two years alone Hotflush has been responsible for bringing us Joy Orbison's Hyph Myngo, the widely praised Mount Kimbie LP, and other widely diverse bass mutations from the likes of Pangaea, Sigha, Roska, and George Fitzgerald. Now living in Berlin, Paul will be bringing us a taste of his regular Sub:stance night at Berghain to the intimate confines of Plastic People, a prospect that is even harder to ignore in light of Plastic People's newly installed soundsystem. Scuba will play from start to finish. Limited advance tickets available now from Resident Advisor.
