With the new party season now in full swing we're super excited to bring a taste of one of our favourite parties to town, presenting three residents from undoubtedly the best, and most notorious club in the world; Panorama Bar. Joining us for the evening are Ostgut Ton's Nick Hoppner, Tama Sumo and Prosumer who will together be sound-tracking what promises to be a very special evening.
The club where the three of them can regularly be heard really needs little in the way of introduction. Located in a former power station in East Berlin, Berghain's reputation for decadence and hedonism is rivalled only by its reputation for music, many believing it to be the beating heart of the house & techno world.
As a producer and DJ, Nick Hoppner displays all the characteristics of a life-long music lover. Sensitive to the history, emotions, stories and situations that derive from this music, for Nick the scope and eclecticism available within the 4/4 rhythm allows him great freedom to express his tastes and musical instincts. Throughout his two solo 12''s on Ostgut Ton, we find lush, uplifting house, deeply melodic dub techno and spooky percussive workouts, all produced to an immaculate degree. He has played a defining role in the growing success of Ostgut Ton since its birth in 2005, spreading the club's musical message through the productions of its residents, and selflessly working to push the platform forward, nurturing its growth.
Next up is Tama Sumo, another superb, and very experienced house DJ. Spinning in Berlin since '93, her Chicago-y music quickly stood out against the city's, at the time, saturated techno scene. Residencies soon started to flood in, at Tresor and at the old Berghain, Ostgut. When the venue moved address she was invited to become part of the team of residents, and she has been perfecting her sound ever since. Now integrating different electronic-music-genres into her sets, she has developed a varied style ranging from House in all its colours, combined with reduced Techno, old Electro, Disco and Pop. Altogether her sets feature a lot of bass, and are always deep, sexy, dirty and jacking. Her explorations into producing began in 2008, her first record 'Brothers and Sisters' perfectly summing up Tama’s take on house music: two rough and funky tracks which were produced in collaboration with our third and final guest for the evening…
And last but not least it gives us great pleasure to welcome Achim Brandenburg aka Prosumer for his Mint Club debut. The Chicago house DJ d' Extraordinaire is one of our personal favourite DJs out there, especially after his show stopping performance for us in London this year, where he literally took roof off. All flavours of house make up his wonderfully colourful sets, and we can't wait to hear him play in Mint. Certainly no slouch in the studio, he has put music out on Running Back, Playhouse and Ostgut Ton since his first release in 2004. It's his residency, and his DJ skills that have bought him the most acclaim though; his regular appearances at Panorama Bar thrilling revellers week in week out. Louche presents Panorama Bar's Prosumer, Nick Hoppner and Tama Sumo. Next stop, our 4th birthday...
