Absentminds with George Fitzgerald & Lone (Live)

  • absentminds Friday 21st October The Mint Club Friday October 21st is the date for the second absentminds party and a fine opportunity to see Hotflush man George FitzGerald and R&S associate Lone in the intimate surroundings of Leeds’ Mint Club. London based FitzGerald emerged with a fresh and airy blend of house, garage and dubstep on his Let Down EP in only 2010. Already though the sleek lines, euphoric melodies and deft programming which characterized his break through single on Scuba’s Hotflush imprint have been followed up with efforts on Aus and his own new label, ManMakeMusic, which were just as deep; just as mature. DJ gigs have taken him to fabric, Berghain, Outlook festival and so many more places. Next stop… Mint Club. Having surface on a juicy wave of rave refraction last year courtesy of his ubiquitous hit ‘Pineapple Crush,’ Lone’s sound is ever evolving. First it was hip-hop on Actress’ Werk Discs, then a rave mini-album on his own imprint Magic Wire littered with incidental and unintentional old school signifiers, plenty of discordant Roland workouts and a ping pong energy that lit up dancefloors across the planet. More recently there has been the Echolations EP for R&S – a more mature sound gazing back through old school Chicago and Detroit – and a scorching contribution to the official Radiohead remix album. Few are hotter than those headlining absentminds this month, so don’t miss the chance to get up close and personal with them; with the club’s light and sound, and with us…
