On October 14th, three of Glasgow's longest running club nights will be joining forces to soundtrack the annual Waverley Boat Party in association with Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum. Built in 1899, the original Waverley was sunk during the evacuation of Dunkirk in World War Two. Rebuilt in 1946, this is the the world's last remaining seagoing passenger carrying paddle steamer and the vessel we will be embarking on what has become one of our favourite traditions. The Waverley is a bona fide cornerstone of Glasgow's cultural life for most of the last century, the Waverley's legendary excursions 'doon the watter' were always seen as an opportunity to leave the grimy city behind and enjoy a unique trip. With a heady mixture of a licensed bar and great music, the formula has remained the same right into the 21st century even if the soundtrack has changed. Join us as we take to the Clyde one more time...
The local showcase will feature JG Wilkes and JD Twitch of Optimo, fresh back from their recent American and European tour dates and the birth of their new monthly residency of Optimo Presents...at the Sub Club. Playing alongside them will be Subculture residents Harri & Domenic, recently back in Glasgow after jaunts away to Paris, Croatia, Australia and on the brink of celebrating eighteen years of Subculture next year. Completing the line-up will be Melting Pot's Andrew Pirie and Simon Cordiner, celebrating their tenth anniversary this year with parties at Electric Elephant as well as programming the MP10 stage at the Electric Frog Weekender.
