We are happy to finally bring you news about our NYE 2011 / 2012 party at a fresh venue. secretsundaze NYE will take palace at the Troxy in East London with a killer line-up befitting such an occasion.
Headlining we have Ame - Live (Innervisions) ably supported by Levon Vincent (Novel Sound, NYC) and Kyle Hall (Wild Oats, Detroit), Giles Smith and James Priestley plus in Room 2 Man Make Music go head-to-head with Five Easy Pieces featuring Braiden, George FitzGerald and MMM and FEP residents.
We are first and foremost very excited to be using this amazing venue for this special evening, the first time for us. The Troxy is a Grade II listed building which first opened in 1933 as a grand cinema. The first film showed there was King Kong! Having considered various warehouse options we opted for the Troxy as it has a little more pizzaz, style and comfort compared to the standard 'warehouse' party. The venue has many original unique art deco features and has superb facilities including killer sound & lighting rig enabling us to bring you an event of exceptional production values and all round entertainment for NYE. The main room with overlying circle really is rather impressive and we feel really the whole venue has that wow factor for NYE - plus some serious artists have performed there in recent years such as PJ Harvey, Pete Doherty and coming up in December New Order even..
Our first guest is none other than Ame - Live (Innervisons). Ame and indeed the Innervisions imprint they run with Dixon and Henrik Schwartz are without doubt one of the most important artists to emerge in electronic music in the last five years or so. With a string of bona fide hits on both Sonar Kollektiv and Innervisions, the likes of Ojomo, Engoli and the huge Rej have dominted clubs and are now surely tagged up as classics. Their soulful mission to explore far beyond the boundaries of house music have resulted in constant quality with 12's that are rocking house, techno and broken beat. Gig wise they have consistently toured the world and we are very happy to have their much revered live set on NYE!
Joining Ame we have one of the most solid and unique artists from over the last few years to really emerge as a serious force to be reckoned with both as a producer and DJ. Step up Mr Levon Vincent! Levon has been honing his craft for some years now and up until recently based in the States his lean, muscular sound could be described as the next step in the New York House sound previously ruled by the likes of Vasquez and Danny Tenaglia. His music mainly released though his excellent Novel Sound label has absolutely dominated clubs over the last few years with some of his big tracks being 'Man or Mistress' and 'These Games'. His tracks totally cross boundaries with everyone from Villalobos to Marcel Dettman being big fans. He is an experienced DJ playing long before he started making music and covers much ground from his usual tougher sound to more soulful and deeper vibes as he is closely allied with Fred P, DJ Qu and Jus Ed.
Our third artist in the secretsundaze main arena is another US artist but this time hailing from Detroit. The self proclaimed, precocious Kyle "MF" Hall has alongside Omar S been the most hyped of the new wave of Detroit DJs and producers and deservedly so. His uncompromising production and raw DJing style have caught many a discerning ear. Production wise he can skip from deep house to techno to dubstep and even hip-hop and not just touching them, but arguably mastering them. Still only 20 years old too! His set at secretsundaze opening party this year was an absolute killer and we expect him to bring more of the same! Completing the line up the secretsundaze room we of course have our ever-reliable and in demand secretsundaze residents Giles Smith and James Priestley.
Hosting the second room we bring you 2 of London's coolest, cutting edge labels / party collectives that broadly fit into the bass music arena but really just stand for quality forward thinking dance music; Man Make Music and Five Easy Pieces.
Headlining Room 2 we have none other than Braiden (Doldrums) as the main guest in Room 2 hosted by Man Make Sound and Five Easy Pieces. Braiden was one of the first people to have emerged from the dubstep scene and opened it up to the 4x4 template. After hearing his track "The Alps" Mary Anne Hobbes said the tune was so good that someone should start a label just to release it. DLDRMS, Joy Orbison's label stepped up and also got deep techno assasin Kassem Mosse to remix on the flip. Since then Braiden has been honing his craft via his regular Rinse FM slot and penned remixes for Jacques Greene and SBTRKT
Man Make Music is the crew headed up by George FitzGerald who's MMM party residency at The Star of Bethnal Green has seen some great guests this year in Ben UFO, Julio Bashmore, Toni Lionni, Will Saul, etc. George is without doubt a breakthrough artist in 2011 releasing great music on the likes of the legendary Hot Flush, Aus and also not forgetting his killer remix of Brawther on secretsundaze that was big with so many DJs. His productions have a sweetness and soulful garagey edge but don't be fooled, much like Scuba (one of his biggest fans) he can bring the noise and can play some pretty brutal killer techno grooves! Last up we have the residents that make up Man Make Music namely Another Amit, Sketchy, Love&Mercy and Count Chocula who heads up Five Easy Pieces which as a label has released some great music this year from the likes of Royalty, Objekt and Jimmy Edgar no less.
So all in all, we hope you agree secretsundaze NYE looks like a pretty mouthwatering prospect of a killer, rarely-used venue and a line-up to rival anything else going on in town. Tickets are currently on sale on RA for £14.50 although don't hang about as these will steadily be increasing in price over the next few days and weeks as people snap up the early birds and early cheaper batches.
