Simon Baker

  • Sabato 12 novmbre 2011 resident dj Claudio Da Deep Movie & Calle Albert Marzinotto Special guest from UK SIMON BAKER (2020 Vision) bio: Simon Baker has played an influential part of the UK house and techno scene for the better part of the last decade. He is an artist that generates his own musical trail through a stand out style, which is purely his own and always current. Pioneering labels such as Cocoon and Playhouse have long since been pressing his tracks, and each of these has helped stamp his dextrous musical talent upon the far reaches of the globe. The clamour for his debut artist album has grown steadily over the past few years and, in early 2011, the highly anticipated long player ‘Traces’ will be released on his home label of 2020 Vision. “I do things when they feel right naturally. My time is now,” said Simon of the upcoming release, “I have the experience now to put an album together that isn't just straight club tracks. I wanted it to represent me, my years in this music and show my more musical side. This shows in the direction I have taken in the album.” Teaser singles ‘Too Slow’ (Radio Slave remix) and ‘No Pressure’ (with remix from Art Department) - will see out the year of 2010 and serve notice of what is just around the corner. Simon Baker has cultivated his resolute DJ skills over the last 17 years, putting them into continual practice through constant demand for worldwide touring. He recently completed his third full North American tour including a debut at Space in Miami and summer 2010 saw him regularly guest at Kehakuma at Space in Ibiza and grace the stage at the huge Carl Cox And Friends event in Mallorca. Other highlights for the year included the Parklife Festival and The Warehouse Project in Manchester, a new residency at Liverpool’s cutting edge mUmU party and air london showcases in Paris, Barcelona and Ibiza. In January, Baker kicks off what promises to be the most exciting year of his career with his second appearance with Nick Curly at the BPM Festival in Mexico after which he will be embarking a worldwide tour to mark the release of ‘Traces’. “I take inspiration from all kinds of sources whether it be music, people, or subject matter around me,” explains Simon of his approach to the album, “It's music from within rather than what might necessarily work on the dance floor.” Outside of his demanding DJ schedule, his tracks have been turning heads since his musical production career began in 2004 with ‘The Liptrick’. Simon regularly features in end of year charts, with breakthrough release ‘Plastik’ being voted #4 in Resident Advisor’s prestigious single of the year 2007 poll, two original productions in iTunes Best of 2009 run down and, in 2010, his ‘Piano Lessons’ re-edit on Foot and Mouth featuring in Mixmag’s best 100 singles of the year. International acclaim followed with further key releases in 2007 - ‘The Fly’ on Connaisseur and ‘Kaskazi’ (Get Physical). His remixes are equally defined and sought after, such as his rework of Simian Mobile Disco’s ‘Sleep Deprivation’ and Radio Slave ‘Bell Clap Dance’ on Rekids, as well as Timo Maas ‘Bite the Dust’ and a second Jamie Jones collaboration for Crazy P on ‘Stop Space Return’. 2010 has been about dedicating time to the studio for the forthcoming long player, which promises ample new standout material to anticipate. His growing reputation as a producer of timeless music marks Simon Baker out as a true global player and English national treasure.
