Hi-tek Soul 1st Birthday Party

  • If you love techno (and we know that you do) keep your eyes to the skies for the meteoric return of Hi-Tek Soul to celebrate their first birthday party! With a line-up that will have you literally quaking with excitement, get ready pilgrims to pay some serious homage to Detroit Techno’s founding fathers. With his signature driving tech beats, abrasive tones, and resonating bass lines, King Derrick May will take to the decks in the main room to take us on a musical journey spanning 3 decades of Techno. Along with Kevin Saunderson, May was one of the ‘Belville Three’, a legendary collective of early Detroit producers, who tested the limits and spirit within electronic dance music and changed the integrity of the form forever, and the roll call of Techno Gods does not stop there! Joining May and Saunderson in the main room will be Jim Masters – the legendary ‘Open all Hours’ Ministry resident, who’s dark and driving sets earned him the title of ‘Techno DJ of the Year’ at the World DJ Awards in 2004. Beyond prolific, May, Saunderson and Masters have defined and created a sound that has moved and inspired future artists ever since around the world, some of whom will stand alongside their Techno heroes on our Hi-Tek Soul birthday line-up. Technasia, who complete the Box line-up, will be bringing their unique orientally- influenced sound, a fusion of beats that has pioneered electronic dance music to the furthest ends of the earth. Meanwhile, from closer to home, the bar will be keeping it tilted with techno from London based Tilted Disco: Colin Dale, Jamie Anderson, Mark Broom and Steve Strawberry. For something a little different legendary house DJ Terry Farley will be leading an all-star cast in the baby box with music from Tomoki Tamura (Giesha Disco Boyz), Dom Keenan (Kinky Malinki), Inui, Junk Boxx, Daisuke.
