Optimo Hogmanay Glue Factory Party
This Hogmanay we wanted to do something a little different, guerrilla style. After a great, great party at the now defunct Art School we were worried we wouldn't find anywhere as unique to put on our annual Hogmanay bash until we were introduced to Glasgow's fabulous Glue Factory.
The Glue Factory is exactly what it say it is, an old factory on the fringes of the city centre, well, lower Maryhill / Spiers Locks to be exact. It's a 15 minutes’ walk / 5 minute taxi ride from Sauchiehall St. Run by various people who were previously involved with the Art School, the building is a cavernous industrial warehouse containing a sprawling and diverse collection of spaces; from white walled galleries to decommissioned glue vats the building has a rich history and raw beauty that make it an exciting venue for bold and ambitious events.
As ever we will install the "Optimo Turbo Soundsystem" and our own lighting design with trademark at the bells malarkey.
And now presenting, in the bar area : " Supermax" with Glasgow's King of Disco - DJ Billy Woods and The Legendary Bozak - Balmain Sound System.
Supermax creator, Billy Woods has acquired somewhat of a cult following in Glasgow and in our opinion provided the catalyst for a renewed passion for disco in our city. Incorporating a wide array of material in his sets - from the likes of Walter Carlos' "sonic seasonings" to the rarest of rare disco records, embracing old and new, Billy is truly a champion of the unexpected.
For those yet to experience the delights of The Glue Factory, the bar area is comparable in size to downstairs at The Art School with a large central bar. it will be set up so there is a dance floor but it will also be possible to have a relaxing chat.
The main room is comparable in size to upstairs at The Art School but is a proper warehouse space ideal for dancing. We will have space heaters running all day so it will be warm and toasty when people arrive.
The space is really amazing. We had spent less than a minute in there when we knew it was the perfect location for Hogmanay. We are super excited about this and think it will perhaps be the most special Hogmanay party we have yet thrown.
