- In light of what happened to our own Dro Carey this month, we have decided to turn his Sydney show into a charity event with 100% of door sales and 50% of bar profits going to “Beyond Blue†to help those struggling with depression. If there’s anything we have learnt recently is that depression is something that affects atleast someone in most of our lives. Most people go on fighting it by themselves and think they are alone in their struggle. It’s a condition that can come back to haunt them even when the individual thinks they are in full control of it. We are hoping that the Sydney electronic music scene and others alike will band together to support this very relevant cause in our society today. One of the greatest misconceptions is that depression is something that affects only those of old age however it’s prevalence amongst our youth today is quite substantial. Our aim with this event is to increase awareness of the condition amongst our younger generations and in turn take a small step in helping those with the mental illness get the help and support they deserve. Beyond Blue Mission Statement: “Our mission is to provide a national focus and community leadership to increase the capacity of the broader Australian community to prevent depression and respond effectively.
