Rainbow Serpent Festival has come a long way in 14 years. From a small gathering in a secluded clearing, to an internationally recongnised, multifaceted weekend of dance, colour, expression and celebration.
2012 sees the Rainbow gates open for the 15th time, which is an impressive record for any event let alone a music festival that exists withing an embabatled and often fickle industry.
People now travel from all over the planet every year to Western Victoria on Australia Day weekend to experience what some have said is one of the best outdoor festivals of its type in the world.
For many of the 10,000 plus people that attend each year, Rainbow has become an institution, and annual reunion, a marker in the year that’s looked forward to for months in advance.
Music wise festival goers can expect to see over 100 artists across a multitude of music genres, including progressive trance, electro, house, breaks, dub and ambient. 2012 will feature some of the freshest acts from around the world alongside Australia’s finest talent.
No longer just an electronic music festival these days you can expect to experience a unique combination of music, art, performance, spiritual education, relaxation and healing. People will be dancing between roving performance artists, giant sculpture and light installations, attending workshops and listening to key speakers on a multitude of topics.
