Detroit Grand Pubahs (Engine Room, Poker Flat, DetEleFunk) Originally founded by Mack Goudy Jr. (Paris The Black Fu) and Andy Toth (Dr. Toefinger) in Detroit back in 1998, but since 2001 the Detroit Grand Pubah’s have consisted of Paris and Mr O (Oliver Way). The Pubahs are no novelty act. There is method to the madness and bass in the badness. It’s just that something went awry in the funk lab and Paris The Black Fu just hasn’t been feeling himselves ever since. It’s all about personality (well split personalities) and a mission to put the fun(k) back into techno. Most recently the Detroit Grand Pubahs launched their new techno label Engineroom with a re-recorded update of their classic track ‘Sandwiches’... embracing the dark and atmospheric techno that will give Engineroom its unique stamp. So expect a whole load of funk and a whole load of badness for this show.... The original Pubahs started out on Brian Gillespie’s tiny indie ‘Throw’ label, releasing the underground club hit ‘Sandwiches’. Since then, they‘ve hit a number of countries with their brand of tech-funk and underground classics. They’ve also taken their live show to another level, with Paris donning multiple costumes and personalities and encouraging the crowd to participate in the funk. Their second long player, ‘Galactic Ass Creatures From Uranus’ on Steve Bug’s Poker Flat imprint, spawned two club hits with ‘The Clapper’ and ‘Big Onion’. The Pubahs run their own label, DetEleFunk (or to give it its full title ‘Detroit Electronic Funk’) and Paris has carried out guest vocals for Steve Bug, The Advent, Marc Romboy, Samuel L Session, Deetron, to name a few. The end of 2008 saw the release of their 3rd album titled ‘Nuttin’ Butt Funk’. They spent the year showcasing a new ‘semi live’ show incorporating live elements into a Dj set. Their last album ‘Madd Circus’ was released on 27 September 2010. Chymera LIVE (Connaisseur, Cocoon Rec, DE) Producing records since 2002, and releasing internationally since 2006. Chymera has carefully honed his melodic brand of techno and house over the years and found support from a wide range of DJs and fans in the process.. In 2002 he made his first steps into production and over the following years progressed through electronica and electro to more dancefloor friendly techno and house. In late 2006 and early 2007 he had his first international releases on labels Urban Torque (As I Am An Exit), Supreme Entertainment and Mezzotinto, the latter of which; "Midnight at the Aquarium", swiftly brought him to the attention of many house and techno luminaries. He followed those up with key releases on labels like Ovum, NRK and Delsin, further cementing his trademark melodic sound in the minds of DJs and music aficionados alike. "Arabesque" (Tishomingo) became one of his most popular tracks and it was also licensed to several high profile mixes (including Luciano´s Fabric 41). As a result of the success of the beatless mix of "Umbrella" (Ovum), he was voted third best chillout artist in the 2007 Beatport awards. Since then he has released on labels as diverse as Figure, Connaisseur, Komplex De Deep and Cocoon Recordings among others and proved a versatile artist whether producing deep house through to big room techno, but all with the trademark Chymera feeling.
