Mint Warehouse presents Marco Carola

  • Mint Warehouse brings three unmissable and musically diverse events to the city of Leeds in March and April. Our unique, 1000-capacity warehouse space with Funktion-One sound throughout will host some of our biggest and most discerning lineups to date. First up, on March 10th Mint Warehouse welcomes the ambassador of Italian techno and one of the most in-demand djs of our times, MARCO CAROLA. Supporting Marco Carola in the main room is a Leeds debut from ar:pia:r's DAN ANDREI. Our second event on March 24th sees Mint Warehouse play host to two of the biggest acts to come out of the USA since the birth of electronic music; the legendary INNER CITY play live in the main room alongside Chicago's finest DERRICK CARTER. Finally on April 6th the French godfather of house and techno LAURENT GARNIER brings his LAURENT GARNIER LBS project to Leeds for the first time with support from lady of the moment NINA KRAVIZ in the main room. Secretsundaze founder and resident GILES SMITH headlines room 2. [Marco Carola] Marco Carola's career began in Naples in the early 90s where he began to cultivate a thriving Italian electronic music underground with the likes of Davide Squillace, Gaetano Parisio, Danilo Vigorito, Rino Cerrone and Random Noize. His formative years were spent steadily honing his infamous style of three-deck mixing and turning out a considerable body of critically acclaimed production work, catching the attention of international press, djs and music fans far from the depths of Southern Italy. Carola then relocated to Frankfurt and London to learn more about the burgeoning electronic music scene and continued to develop his sound via massive releases on Minus, Plus 8 and 2M ; mix cds for Cocoon, Timewarp and Fabric; as well as his own albums of which "Open System" received the "album of the year" accolade from Groove Magazine. Today Carola is rightly considered one of the original driving forces behind techno's permeation of the worldwide dance scene alongside Sven Vath, Ricardo Villalobos, Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin. [Dan Andrei] Hailing from Craiova in Romania Dan Andrei was still a student when he released his first two tracks. Since then the young producer has quickly carved a reputation as a purveyor of intricate and beautifully constructed electronics worthy of releases on Kurbits, Be Chosen and Raresh, Pedro and Rhadoo's formidable ar:pia:r label, with "Double Deez" also appearing on Cocoon's Green & Blue mix cd. As Andrei's recognition as a producer spread, so too has his tour schedule which includes recent performances at Robert Johnson, Trouw, Arma 17 and Monza Ibiza, as well as his continued position as support dj at the massive Sunwaves Festival in Romania alongside the likes of DJ Sneak and Seth Troxler. After impressing the ar:pia:r stable so much with his intelligent and tasteful warm up sets, Andrei is now one of the key members of the ar:pia:r family of artists and regularly accompanies Raresh, Pedro and Rhadoo on tour.
