6 Years Of Beef Records

  • 6 * Y E A R S *of * B E E F & S O U L * M A C H I N E * A L B U M * L A U N C H In celebration of 6 years of Beef Records and the release of Shades of Grays debut album "Soul Machine", Brown Alley presents a night to remember. Shades of Gray will be debuting their new live sound, showcasing edits and reworks of their new album along with unreleased material. Beef records have come a long way since it's launch in 2006 - releasing many top selling and charting records, organising tours for respected artists. Come and get a taste of the labels direction for 2012. Shades of Gray (Beef - CZ/AUS) http://soundcloud.com/shades-of-gray Made up of Nick West and Michal Schwa, Shades of Gray is a DJ and production duo that formed in 2005 after Schwa moved from Prague to West’s hometown of Sydney. Soon after, they met and discovered they both shared a similar passion for electronic music. It wasn’t long after that Michal offered for Nick to join him as a partner on his newly formed label Beef Records. Since then they’ve kept up a presence performing around Australia, produced a string of EPs and managed their own label, Beef Records, through which they’ve just released Soul Machine. The album features 11 previously unreleased tracks from the duo, plus 11 more remixes of those tracks on a second disc. Artists tapped for reworks include The Timewriter, Lexy (of Lexy & K-Paul) and Jef K with Gwen Maze. The album has been very well received in Europe (album of the month in DeBug magazine, 8/10 in DjMag, licensed for Defected/Clubstar CD compilations...). Peter Horrevorts (Gem records/Beef/Netherlands) http://soundcloud.com/horrevorts Peter Horrevorts is one of those rare artists who are NOT constantly flooding the market with hundreds of digital releases. Instead of that he is focusing on a real quality output. Pretty much every single track and remix that Peter does is getting hand picket by the worlds biggest DJs and licensed for respected compilation series on labels such as Ministry Of Sound, Global Underground and Renaissance. His latest remix work for Shades of Gray is already creating a big buzz in the international scene and getting charted by some of the most respected jocks around. Remix of Steve Ward for Chameleon Recordings is getting hammered by Nick Warren, Christian Smith and Umek. Even Carl Cox is aware of this talent and gave Peter a chance to perform live on the Carl Cox Global radio show. Uone (Beef records/Chameleon) http://uonemusic.com/ Uone has been an essential part of the Beef records family. Hailing from Melbourne, Ewan produced some great records and remixes for the label and also co-organised many label events and tours. Uone is now back from Brasil where he performed at one of the biggest local festivals called Universal Paralelo. Mic Newman (Freerange) http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/micnewman The work of both Mic Newman and Fantastic Man reveal a raw talent to spread across a number of genres. Hailing from Melbourne and a family of musicians, his focus on electronic music has gained star status in his home country, where he, along with a new breed of local artists have put Australia firmly on the house radar, with an ever-expanding scene developing. Mic recently remixed Jet Project's Message from Chi-Town that came out on Beef last year. Mic got also involved in the first EP on newly established label Reckless Republic remixing Shades Of Gray. FULL LINE UP: SHADES OF GRAY LIVE (Beef) PETER HORREVORTS (Gem, Beef) DJ SCHWA (Beef) JML (VIbrating Balance) TOM LALLY (Revolver) JAY UETA (Tramp) ANRI (Chameleon) ALEX ANDERSON
