It is composed of circular hallways that are suspended from above and rotate independently inside and around one another. Projections flood through the their transparent walls to paint the entire space with imagery and shadows. Video of this piece can be seen at the artist's website. www.AweLucid.com. Pickapeppa: Designed to be simple, approachable, and intuitive, [capsaicin]'s "pickapeppa" is a fiery taste of what it's like to be a live visualist. Using a touchpad controller and an array of buttons, participants can trigger and manipulate video in realtime, encouraging creative expression in time with music. http://john.capseat.com/ Thicket: Thicket is an audiovisual playground for iPad and iPhone that allows anyone to create beautiful sounds and pictures from simple finger touches. Each mode is its own art generator, interactive toy, instrument, even performance tool depending on how you use it. Thicket's creators, Joshue Ott and Morgan Packard, spent years performing as an audiovisual duo throughout North America and Europe. Thicket invites audience members to share the stage with them, to use their own hands to guide Ott and Packard's processes, to witness firsthand the magic that happens when sound and picture come alive. http://intervalapps.tumblr.com/ Washington, DC FORWARD Festival, a 5 day celebration of electronic creative culture (music and art), will occur from April 25th through April 29th. Entering its 5th year, 88 continues a history of expanding FORWARD Festival’s scope and opportunities for people interested in electronic creative culture. Each year, FORWARD is curated around a specific theme. The theme for this year’s festival is organic. As we enter 2012, we feel that it is important - now more than ever - to get back to our roots, live healthy and embrace that which is raw and pure. Artistically, organic will be represented in all visual aspects of the festival, with a particular focus on the 5 Chinese elements of the natural world: Fire, water, earth, wood and metal. Musically, the festival will focus more on back-to-back DJ nights, artists that we feel have an organic sound and installations that reflect the theme. Forward would like to thank our sponsors and partners to date: Adode, Courtyard Marriott, DC Brau, NEXGEN Music, The Red Bull Music Academy, NOMA Bid, Smirnoff, DC Brau, XCulture, Dive and Lie Wrecked, Audiology, King Larrish,The Warehouse/Loft, Audio Technology Program at American University, Lil SoSo, eSocialMediaShop, Life, Nomad, STP, d33p s3cr3ts, Downtowner, Georgetowner.
