March 10th signifies Sydney welcoming one of Techno’s seminal figures. Not one to garner bright lights & glossy mags, neither a push for notoriety or fame Kirk Degiorgio is a techno work horse delving into the void combining machine & man. Whilst Kirk started out with a Detroit vibe and spinning vinyl like most other Dj’s of the late 90’s Kirk is one of the few DJ’s to embraced and move forward with technology presented to us in this modern age.
With a passion for music that most format junkies could only wish for, Kirk symbolizes the fact that it is not how you play music, its WHAT music you play that truly makes a great DJ. Not just blending tracks together Kirk moves into an almost live sense editing and modifying tracks on live during his DJ sets. As a DJ Kirk spans musical territory alike his spanning continents for his first tour to Australia from his home in Stepney London, Kirk is at home playing jazz & funk as he is with energetic melodic techno.
To complement Kirk’s prowess as a DJ his qualities as a producer are second to none, releasing gorgeous house under his Esoterik moniker (from which Starwaves was one of the standout tracks from 2006 on the renowned Freerange label), to his emotional dark & driving techno on the esteemed Rush Hour as well as Kirks own ART label.
Kirks passion and dedication to electronic music shines through with all his endeavors and it’s with great pleasure & pride that we welcome him to One22’s little basement for your enjoyment.
Joining Kirk on the Kirk are some of Australia’s brightest (albeit adopted in one case…) techno talent such as Haul musics’ Christian Vance who’ll be perform his well regarded live set, Detroit’s best Sydney DJ; Claire Morgan and a young lad with a hell of a lot of T’s and no plane ticket to Berlin; Matttt.
