FutureEverything + MUTEK in association with Mind on Fire present the FutureEverything Opening Party on Weds 16 May with exclusive LIVE sets from Deadbeat + Andy Stott at Islington Mill. They are supported by Mind on Fire DJs and a rare set from Szare (Horizontal Ground/Idle Hands).
FutureEverything is delighted to be working alongside Montreal’s MUTEK festival to present the opening party for FutureEverything 2012. Hosted in one of the hippest, bohemian haunts in the city (Salford’s Islington Mill) this late night event features a live set from Deadbeat and Andy Stott.
Deadbeat is Scott Monteith, a long time Montrealer and recent Berlin ex-pat who has been releasing his own special blend of dub-laden, minimal electronics since 2000, for labels such as Cynosure, Musique Risquée, Scape, and Spectral. His work has received consistent acclaim from the industry’s leading publications and websites, and has drawn regular performance invitations for some of the world’s most respected festivals, including Barcelona’s Sonar, Berlin’s Transmediale, and Montreal’s own MUTEK. Whether crafting kaleidoscopic house and techno, snap-clap digital dancehall, or impossibly heavy dub, Scott continues to search for his own unique voice between the ones and zeros.
Deadbeat is supported by Manchester’s Andy Stott who has recently pushed new techno-dub variations since his widely acclaimed album Merciless on Modern Love. Over the last three years, his impressive tracks under the pseudonym Andrea, alongside MLZ/Pendle Coven’s Miles Whittaker as Millie, have breathed an organic, sample-ridden life into steppers’ riddims and old hardcore tracks.
Andy Stott + Deadbeat are joined by Mind on Fire DJs, plus anonymous techno DJ Szare aka 19.261.18.5 (Horizontal Ground /Idle Hands) plays a rare DJ set.
