  • electric owl, the crusaders of electronica and deep techno, is very proud to present a night of music with one of the most cutting edge labels ever to exist. Border Community Label Night Border Community is about dance music that doesn't fit in a category, and about providing djs with the tools to innovate. It is a collective of amazingly talented artists. -------------------- --------------- Avus is the German-motor-racing-inspired pseudonym of choice of Scott Edwards, an accomplished DJ, critically-endorsed producer and Acid House obsessive from Milton Keynes who to date has notched up a considerable tally of releases on a respectable array of tech-flavoured labels. Avus is perhaps best known as one of the Border Community label's founding fathers, pledging his allegiance to the noble cause as early as release number four - the low-slung bassline action of 'Real' - before giving further substance to his declaration with 2007's deliciously raw spinetingler 'Furry Hat'. -------------------- --------------- It was only when big fish in the small local techno pond Jeremy Caulfield chanced upon a prototypically physical Jake Fairley live performance in a downtown bar that an electronic recording career became a serious proposition, signing Jake up for the first release on to his fledgling Dumb-Unit label and forging a vital link in the North American techno network in the process. A series of critically-acclaimed dubby techno releases on Berlin's trailblazing minimal label Sender soon followed - amongst which lurked early touchstones of the emergent minimal techno scene ‘Oshawa’, ‘CN Tower’ and ‘Exploder’ - leading on to his debut artist album ‘Crisis’ in 2002. With this came international renown, top draw techno DJ endorsement, the Kompakt Speicher-series seal of approval, and eventually the inevitable move to Berlin to facilitate the spread of his sweaty, raw live performances throughout Europe’s burgeoning club scene. From decidedly mumbled beginnings, the emerging vocal component of Jake’s live performances became increasingly aggressive in the run up to 2004’s return to Dumb-Unit for the release of ‘Touch Not The Cat’, and the raucous no-wave vocal live shows that accompanied this album of bolshy pants-off electro-rock could have given T.Raumschmiere himself a run for his money. -------------------- --------------- Norfolk's Luke Abbott was one of the many special artists set adrift after the unfortunate demise of the legendary Output Recordings, and we gladly welcomed him into the Border Community family for the release of his musically ambitious Tuesday EP. Luke is no stranger to the live circuit, and has recently modified his more experimental live stylings to create a new club-friendly set of dance music in the loosest possible sense to help us drag dancefloors everywhere kicking and screaming into the 21st century: domineering, unrelenting new single Whitebox Stereo is quite a statement of intent.
