We are excited to present Vienna based composer Dorian Concept at the Glasslands Gallery, May 17th! Providing able support will be Mary Ann Hobbs faves Archie Pelago and local producers DATALOG and Astrolith. You 'll want your thinking cap as well as your dancing shoes for this one, it's gonna be a blast!
-DORIAN CONCEPT-
Dorian Concept is a Vienna based composer and musician, a child piano prodigy who went onto study music composition in Salzburg. He has released a string of extraordinary singles and EPs on Affine Records and Kindred Sprits, most notably the 'Trilingual Dance Sexperience' release in 2009.
He is currently one of the most exciting artists working in electronic music; his fusion of jazz, electronics and club music is as exciting as it is unique. He was asked by Flying Lotus to play at his Brainfeeder Event in London in 2009 and joined his band on keyboards for his latest shows. He also submitted an original track to the Ninja Tune XX releases and collaborated at the Royal Albert Hall Ninja Tune XX show with an ensemble including members of the London Metropolitan Orchestra.
-ARCHIE PELAGO-
Archie Pelago is a live/production outfit emphasizing the fusion of instrumental textures and experimental beat landscapes. The Brooklyn-based trio is comprised of Cosmo D (cello/ableton wizard), Kroba (sax/fx) and Hirshi (dj/trumpet). Joining forces in late summer of 2010, Archie Pelago has been committed to producing powerful tunes inspired by contemporary bass music culture. Combining an electronic method with their unmistakable chamber approach, when the three guys get in a room together, magic happens- with their productions and groundbreaking live experience. Having played with the likes of Shigeto, Ben UFO, Oneman, XI, Wheez-ie and more, Archie's unique live set has been praised for balancing their original music with live remixes of their favorite dance jams. Reeling off of their recent single released on Car Crash Set, Archie is poised to be dropping several original releases and remixes in 2012 including their unmistakable re-work of Distal and HxdB's "Booyant", out in January on the venerable Tectonic imprint.
-DATALOG-
DATALOG's music is grounded in a world of beats and bass colored with electronic brilliance, and a deep sound palette. In addition to paying dues in the studio and touring internationally, he has self-released 2 EPs, and his track "Monday" will be featured on the Dutty Artz release, Good Bread, this Spring. DATALOG is the solo project of Conor Heffernan, an accomplished pianist who has also played in jazz trios, experimental projects and film scoring.
-ASTROLITH-
Evan Sutton has been making experimental music for close to a decade. Making the journey to the east coast from Southern California in 2005, he cut his teeth composing electronic music in an academic setting.
Today, his heart is set on the dancefloor. Combining a variety of influences, including hip hop, electro, techno, and funk, he wants to get you busy.
