Gibb Street Warehouse presents Mistajam, Adam F + More

  • Gibb Street Warehouse Presents...Mistajam, Adam F +more Mistajam 16 Bit Jakwob (LIVE) Adam F Now approaching its first full month of programmes, Gibb St Warehouse adds another string to its bow with a musical change in direction for the classy house and techno which has been at the epicentre of the early ruminations. The focus for the venue’s first ever Friday swing from the thump of four-four grooves to breakbeat led offerings, with a smorgasbord of hiphop, drum n bass, dubstep and forward thinking bass music promised for an evening of ruffneck riddims. The talent offering is just as highly measured as the clubs recent output, with two guests already inked in and further announcements due shortly for what is set to be a massive showcase First up is the voice of dubstep, 1Xtra’s Mistajam. Larger than life both in sound and behind the mic, Mistajam’s relentless championing of the bass driven genre has seen its rise from otherworldly and unknown sound to the dominant force and feel of British urban music. Each DJ set is a ferocious mixture of his amiable personality and fiercest drops, coming alive behind the mic as the most upfront dubplates and sonic musings tear through the speakers. He’s become the voice of the sound on 1Xtra, the nation’s most revered urban music station, and few can stake as strong a claim in the way the genre has transcended in the past few years; the dominant force at this year’s WMC in Miami no less. Next in line is 16bit, the swaggering heroes of the UK bass scene. Their sonic rumblings underpin everything from the skittering percussive breaks to wobbling basslines, mixing up everything from mombathon, grime and 140 jungle, with all the dots in-between joined. Their genre traversing sets add an extra zeal of carnival flair to the melting pot of bass music, all underpinned by a breath-taking performance attitude. Picked up on by the undisputed leaders of the bass music phenomenon Chase & Status for their MTA imprint where they have released some of their finest speaker bothering tackle, this duo are quite simply the real deal. Jakwob also swings by for a live performance; one of the producers heralded as gifting dubstep its accessible appeal in recent years. He was the first to rough up Ellie Goulding’s pop sensibilities before Skrillex got a hold of her (musically speaking, of course), and has added a keen edge to the likes of Lily Allen, Temper Trap and M.I.A. as well. The final name sees pioneer of all things bas s heavy Adam F in the house, no doubt dropping a raucous ensemble of forward thinking and grind inducing beats. Gibb St’s maiden voyage into the sea of bass music boasts arguably the most legendary captain it could find.
