Thursday April 26th two of SF’s leading underground parties come together.
Forward joins BASE, Vesse’s flagship night for one night only; to present Lee
Curtiss as ‘BASE moves Forwards’.
Over the last three years Lee Curtiss has made a name for himself creating
primal, exquisitely deep and emotional dance tracks that pulse with life, sex,
and humour, incorporating countless influences and genres but beholden to
none. Now as a guiding hand in Visionquest, alongside Ryan Crosson, Shaun
Reeves and Seth Troxler, he is currently re-writing the rule book of how to
approach writing electronic music in the twenty first century. Lee Curtiss is an
eccentric, an original, an innovator, a ten-year veteran of the electronic-music
scene. His love of his craft shines through in his tracks’ every bump and shudder.
From 2009’s Visionquest remix of Kiki’s ‘Good Voodoo’, sighted by many as the
underground smash of the year, to his ‘Black Door EP’ on Spectral (Mixmag’s
techno ‘Tune of the Month’, October 09) and last year’s ‘We All Fall Down EP’ on
Supplement Facts (also Mixmag ‘Tune of the Month), Lee has an innate ability to
create instantly memorable lead riffs that will stand the test of time.
Now on Thursday April 26th, he makes his Vessel debut on that Funktion One –
the West Coast’s premier system, as ‘BASE moves Forwards’.
