In celebration this May long weekend Nordic Trax & Electronic Nation will do what we do best Sunday May 20th at the world-famous Commodore Ballroom. The anniversary event is headlined by two of the biggest names in House Music: MARK FARINA & DJ SNEAK, alongside Western Canadian dance music heavyweights JAY TRIPWIRE, JON DELERIOUS & LUKE MCKEEHAN for what plans to be a legendary night in the Vancouver music scene. "When it comes to quality few can match the deep house of Luke McKeehan's Nordic Trax imprint.” IDJ Magazine (UK) “Luke McKeehan is a label manager who isn't afraid of taking risks with unknown producers.” XLR8R (US) “Canada’s finest label” Blues & Soul Magazine (UK) More about DJ Sneak: With over 20 years of DJing and more than 20,000 records in his vinyl collection, DJ Sneak is one of House music’s true pioneers. Puerto Rico & Chicago bred, DJ Sneak now resides in Toronto and has helped shape the course of dance music since the early 90s. His signature sound – funky filtered disco-influenced house and tough, jacking beats – has revolutionized electronic music for nearly two decades. Beginning his DJ career in 1983, Sneak continues in 2012 at the top of his game headlining clubs, festivals, and special events around the world with a jam-packed schedule. Innovator of the disco filtered house sound that inspired Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Armand Van Helden and countless others, Sneak co-wrote Daft Punk’s top 10 hit on the UK pop charts “Digital Love”. He also produced multiple worldwide club hits including “You Can’t Hide From Your Bud” and “Fix My Sink”, both also top 20 hits on the UK pop charts, and “Droppin Kisses” (Cr2), a number 1 single on the UK club charts. Mixed compilations for Fabric (62), React, Moonshine, Magnetic, Om, and Ministry of Sound to name a few. An in-demand remixer, Sneak has remixed artists as diverse as Justin Timberlake, ATrak & Laidback Luke, Azari & III, Matthew Dear, The Avalanches, and Loco Dice among many others. Recent shows: Watergate Berlin / Fabric London / BPM Festival Playa Del Carmen. Upcoming shows: Cadenza Ushuaia Ibiza / Circoloco NYC / Tomorrowland Belgium. More about Mark Farina: The "deejay's deejay" Mark Farina has been flying the flag for underground house and quality beats for over 15 years. Shortly after Mark befriended Derrick Carter in 1988 at a record store in Chicago, his passion for House music, and sharing it with the world, exploded. Mark experimented with a deeper style, dropping De La Soul, disco classics and other stuff that wasn’t being played in the main rooms of nightclubs. Mark has been traveling the globe performing 100s of shows, to over one million club goers a year. His House sets take fans on journeys to the jazzy side of Chicago House mixed San Fran style. Some of these sets have been known to last up to 8 hours. And sometimes you’ll find Mark playing in two different rooms at the same party, showcasing his range of rocking the big room sound to the uber-chill. Farina’s taste making skills continue to turn the heads of crowds worldwide and consistently draw new fans to his style of chunky–funky rhythms and deep underground house. URB, MUZIK and BPM Magazines have all had him on their Top DJ’s In The World lists. More about Luke McKeehan & Nordic Trax: The year 2012 marks the 15th anniversary of Nordic Trax, and if recent output is any indication, the music has never been better. DJ and radio support continues to pour in from the likes of Luciano, Mark Knight, Kenny Dope, DJ T, Robert Owens, King Britt, Terry Francis, Fish Go Deep, Graeme Park, Franck Roger and many more. A producer and globe-trotting deejay in his own right, McKeehan was named among the Top 50 Artists & Entertainers in Vancouver. Besides his own headlining sets Luke has been the opening act of choice for music royalty on tour including David Bowie, Bassment Jaxx, Jamiroquai, St. Germain & Kaskade to name only a few. His mixed-CD ‘Many Shades of House’ received a near- perfect rating from DJ Magazine, who exclaimed "The love affair continues with this latest Nordic Trax gem". Label releases have been widely licensed and clients include Fabric UK, Nike, Defected, Turbo, Om Records, Sony, Queer As Folk, PIAS, Global Underground, Alliance/Atlantis, Showcase & more.
