Techno - Waning Crescent

  • DRUMCELL Los Angeles // DROID Records, CLR www.soundcloud.com/drumcell Drumcell ‘s constant push into the bleeding edges of music technology has earned him the title of product specialist for Native Instruments. He is out there pushing the limits of what current technology has to offer- developing homebrew software as well as cutting edge hardware solutions to bring a fresh, innovative taste to his production and performances. Innovations that blur the lines between live performance and a traditional DJ set up creating “a thick blend of acidic techno and aggressive but funky minimalist groove”. Drumcell is one of the few artists exploiting the full power of software like Traktor and Ableton run through state-of-the-art Allen & Heath mixer technology. In conjunction, the trinity is used to create a hybrid of flexibility and fidelity for the ultimate in electronic music performance. Drumcell uses this platform to highlight his own needles-in-the-red brand of aggressive, discordant techno. In fact, this summer’s Droid Recordings release “Cell Injection”, with longtime production partner Audio Injection, crystallized this amped up testosterone booster meets Quaalude jack and funk perfectly. In turn, the release captured the attention of many of the world’s top techno jocks in the process – including Speedy J and Richie Hawtin. It’s a sound born of musical menace and the kinds of wickedness that only the poisoned airs of LA can conjure. From their debut monthly club night that introduced a focus on minimal house and techno sounds, a first in Milwaukee, to their unique urban loft and warehouse parties, to large-scale concert hall events featuring top tier underground techno and house music showcases, Projekt International has brought to Milwaukee and Chicago the likes of Richie Hawtin, Maetrik, Gaiser, Dilo, Ambivalent, Pezzner, JPLS, Dario Zenker and so many more. Projekt International is Future.Forward.Musik. Featuring: DELA (Mindshake, Projekt INTL) (Milwaukee, WI) Having been intrinsic in EDM culture since the early-nineties Dela’s deep-rooted passion for music has always been in constant forward-motion. Early appreciations for the sounds and influences of Detroit, Chicago, and Berlin have paved a way for a continual focus on innovation and musical progression. This developing artistic sense has only been matched by his personal determination to grow hand-in-hand with the music itself. Today, as Paco Osuna’s label partner for Mindshake Records (based in Barcelona, Spain), Dela finds his passions immersed in the cutting-edge of the world’s top techno and house arenas. However it is his love affair with the studio and DJ booth where Dela is able to express these passions artistically. As a producer, his signature concoctions of percussive and groove-based tech house has impressed aficionadi as found on labels like Colombia's 'The Room' and Argentina's 'Pild Records'. As a DJ, his sets have graced dancefloors at noteworthy venues home and abroad… most notably appearing on headlining and featured bills at major institutions like Space (Miami), Beta (Denver), et al… and countless other events and label showcases throughout the globe. His music will undoubtedly suit it’s playing field - spanning anything from deep and sexy avant house to the jack and bounce of peak hour tech-house or techno. A keen sense for aesthetics and an ability to adapt are what make Dela who he is to this music. Always studying. Always looking forward. And most importantly… always giving back. SCREENDOOR (Projekt INTL) (Milwaukee, WI) Justin ‘Screendoor’ has been obsessively collecting vinyl since his first exposure to electronic music in the late nineties. With a vast vinyl archive of rarities and white labels at his disposal, backed by a true crate digger’s zeal, Screendoor’s dusty fingers, keen ears and curatorial habits are not limited by genre. With musical influences that span the sonic spectrum, Ron Hardy, Richard D. James, and Richie Hawtin the most notable; there is no particular descriptor that can be applied to his DJ sets as each is unique and tied to a time, place, crowd and atmosphere. While proud to be a vinyl DJ, Screendoor is not afraid of technology and will often supplement his vinyl sets with personal edits in Ableton and Traktor. Producing on and off since 2000, Screendoor is eager to add to the ongoing musical dialogue with releases of his own, but still feels his unique voice is not yet ready. Ever diligent in the studio, his time is split honing his DJ skills, digging for new sounds and refining his production chops striving to one day have a physical manifestation of his electronic music passion. Raised in the Midwest, Screendoor was exposed to the Drop Bass Network/Chicago/Detroit warehouse rave scene early on, which instilled a DIY attitude toward sound system culture. Screendoor, alone and with Projekt Intl, has promoted themed raves, parties and club nights, continuing the tradition of loud, clear sound on proper systems, in unique environments, hosting a range of ambient, dub, disco, techno, house and bass music events. His passion also resulted in the creation of Niche Style / Sound, a vinyl/fashion hub in Milwaukee that lasted four years before succumbing to the realities of the current state of the music industry. With a 15 + year history DJing in the Midwest, Screendoor has played festivals, raves, lofts and clubs alongside a myriad of international and national artists in a range of styles, among them Adam X, Ambivalent, Barem, Bruno Pronsato, Butane, Dan Bell, DJ ESP, Hyperactive, JPLS, Justin Long, Kyle Geiger, Matthew Dear, Maetrik, Pezzner, Richie Hawtin, Ryan Crosson, Safety Scissors, Seth Troxler, Someone Else, Superpitcher and more. SIR FICE (Projekt INTL) (Milwaukee, WI) With beginnings in early-nineties Midwest rave culture, Sir Fice has an appreciation and deep understanding of techno's history. Influenced early on by Plastikman's "Sheet One", Sir Fice's techno sound has organically progressed from the funky and hard techno of the late 90's, through modern minimal to the refined sound of today merging contemporary digital sounds with analog thump. With 15 years of experience behind the decks, Sir Fice's aggressive mixing style distorts the line between classic and contemporary. His sets span the realms of deep, funky and drugged up house to dark and mental and full on techno. Sir Fice has played alongside techno heavyweights Richie Hawtin, Steve Bug, Maetrik, Ambivalent, Barem, Derek Plaslaiko, Acid Circus, Dilo, Punisher, Robert Armani and more. As a promoter, his industry roots run just as deep having commandeered several Event Promotions projects over the past decade, most notably with Milwaukee's AudioTribe collective, PROJEKT MKE and Projekt INTL. AudioTribe's successful two-year run of their 'HomeBrew' events laid the groundwork for projekt mke, a collaboration that specialized in bringing world class, boundary pushing techno, house and minimal to the Midwest. Now rebranded as Projekt INTL, the collaborative's efforts have a broader vision for the future of Contemporary American Techno Culture, through national and international promotion and events, a podcast roster of international artists and a passionate goal to raise the profile of avant-garde Techno & House Music in North America. ---------------------- EXCLUSIVE COMPANY ROOM ---------------------- Featuring: G-SPOT OPTIMO VAYDA PSYNTHETIC COMPOUND TESLA 8pm - 230am 18+ Must have ID $15 includes all you can bowl all night!!
