  • Hey all, On the 21st December Cubism will be making it’s debut at top London club The Key, just before it sadly shuts it’s doors for good at the end of the year. The club has been a firm favourite of ours for many years now and we thought it would be a great oppourtunity to hold a party for our 2nd and 3rd releases and see the club off in style. And what better time to do it than the last working day of the year for most of you…! Line up for the festivities will be…. PERC (Drumcode, Kompakt, Perc Trax) Rhythm Code (Rising Music, Cubism Richard Belsom (Confused, Jack Digitals, Cubism) Mark Gwinnett (Lunacy Sound Division, Evasive, SP Recordings, Cubism) Claire Ripley (Cubism, SP Recordings, Cristian Records) Room 2 – Hosted by DIRTY PLEASURE DARIEN J (Cubism) Ashley Mckenna Michael Barham Rob Collins PERC probably doesn’t need much of an introduction these days as he’s currently one of the fastest rising stars in the techno scene. First signed by James Holden in late 2001, Ali Wells has since served up a unique fusion of house and techno that has seen him trample across genre barriers to take his sound around the world. Opening up his discography with the relentless bass assault of debut single 'I Make Nuclear' Ali has not looked back, releasing and remixing at a steady pace without ever sacrificing quality in order to be prolific. Taking in 80's industrial, 90’s hardcore and more up to date jackin' house and techno Ali mixes up these inspirations without ever displaying his inspirations too blatantly. Releasing on a host of labels as well as his own Perc Trax imprint, singles such as 'Splashy', 'Ice Cream For Kenton' and the Nathan Fake remixed 'Closer' have picked up a wide range of compilation requests including Slam, James Zabiela, D. Ramirez, Chris Liebing and Ibiza superclub Space Ibiza plus consistent Radio play. Every original Perc release to date has featured on at least one compilation and recent support is better than ever coming from Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Lee Burridge, Claude Vonstroke, Michael Mayer, Remute, Williams, Jeff Bennett, Cass, Chloe and many others. An in-demand remixer Ali has turned in innovative re-rubs of everything from tearing European techno to serene Japanese J-pop. His most notorious remixes include his driving take on Holden's own 'First Light', his recent reworking of DJ Hell's 'Buttersaure', remixing possibly one of the biggest names in the dance scene at the moment – Trentemoller, as well as releasing tracks on Kompakt, and Adam Beyer’s Drumcode imprint, that had the cream of Europe's techno scene including Adam Beyer and Chris Liebing salivating. Rhythm Code Asher and Neil have been working together since the late 90s, DJing and producing house music under the Rhythm Code banner. Asher and Neil have played host to Slam, Phil Keiren and Justin Robertson at their own Moov night and appeared alongside the likes of Danny Rampling, Shapeshifters and Funk D'Void. Rhythm Codes trademark 4 deck set give them that certain X factor that sets them a peg above the rest. Their meticulous attention to detail and flawless control behind the decks coupled with an equally clinical approach to production is what has led Rhythm Code to become a firm favourite amongst top flight DJs and clubbers alike. From the twisted, drug fueled mayhem of 'Digital Junkies' to the electronic beast that is 'Hypnotic Influence' Rhythm Codes original productions have been praised time after time by the likes of Sasha, Hernan Cattanio, Armin Van buren, Pete Tong, Green Velvet, The Plumps and more, attesting to their musical diversity and cross-over appeal. "Our sound kind of encompasses everything we love about electronic music We dont like to focus on any particular style for too long, so all our productions are different." Asher and Neil now regularly find themselves DJing the world over and remixing some of the biggest names in House music. Their big room remix of Harry Choo Choo Romero's hit 'What Happened' released on Slip n Slide in 2004 led the way to further success in 2005 when they were asked to remix DeLacys classic 'Hideaway' with Chris Lake. Naturally more collaboration work followed, spawning a string of releases under various different guises in particular Ashers Collaboration with Chris Lake as Ramsay seemed to stand out, their debut release on Statra entitled 'Sweat' was Featured on Pete Tongs Essential Selection and gained support from many top jocks, including Carl Cox and Laurent Garnier. More original Code productions followed in 2005 with Sing on Nascent Records, featured on Pete Goodings Miami DJ Mag (march 06) cover CD and Wally Lopez's Essential mix and Lullaby on Cuba Reocrdings described as "Fusing slick proggy beats with a sultry vocal, it's smooth as silk. There are about 10 mixes to choose from, but stick to the original for a catchy, easily digestible, cheese free diet of quality house. Sounding as fresh today as when it was first made." DJ MAG Darien J After 8 years of promoting his own bi-monthly warehouse parties and playing the occasional guest slot when time permitted Darien decided to take the plunge and leave his successful bar management career to commit all of his time to pursuing a career in music. 2 years later he is now one of North London’s brightest DJ stars and a producer with tracks signed to labels across the world. In March 2006 Darien set up Stylistik, a club promotion that has earned him the respect of DJs and promoters alike for it’s forward thinking music policy and unswerving dedication to the deep and minimal side of house and techno. Darien is determined to play music that he feels breaks new ground and refuses to pander to the masses by travelling down the road of mediocrity. After completing a 6 month residency in Shoreditch London with Stylistik, Darien decided to have a break from the toils of promoting and add another string to his already well-equipped bow by taking on his own radio show. Join him every Wednesday night/Thursday morning from 12am GMT for a 2 hour seamless mix of the best house and techno this side of Berlin including exclusive plays of his own and fellow producers stripped-back creations on Passion 91.8FM (London only) or passion918fm.com (Worldwide). And with Cubism residents - Richard Belsom, with a huge EP forthcoming on Oliver Huntemann’s Confused label; Mark Gwinnett (Lunacy Sound Division) who in recent months has gained support from Carl Cox, Nathan Coles, Mastiksoul etc etc, and Claire Ripley with forthcoming remixes on SP Recordings and Christian Padararu’s Cristian records, this is one Christmas party not to be missed…!! We’ll be running a special concessions list so send your names to [email protected] See you all there :)
