Some producers and DJs seem to stick to the same sound, the same
stable and the same output. For some, however - including the super
cool swagger of Miguel Puente - keeping your options open and
injecting diversity into your ethos is the key to everything.
Releasing his music on Hot Waves (the slow and soulful burn of 'After Midnight n Your Bed'), Lower East (the percussive, glassy and driving power of thumping slo-mo track 'I Get Ya') and even Neim (his remix of Wildkats and Tboy's 'To Be', which reworked the context of the vocal hook into a peaktime slammer), the man from Mexico represents his current home city of Barcelona with feel good aplomb. Much like the fragrantly cool, sunny city - where the historic meets the modern - he keeps his productions brimming with mediterranean sass and eclectic vigour, taking classic house templates and tempos and dousing them in modernistic, forward thinking and experimental touches and nuances. A rising talent in its most pure sense, the dance community waits with baied breath to see where he'll go next.
