This week will see the return of Therapy to it’s spiritual home at Barsoma with a homespun affair marking the return to Brisbane of one of the city’s most influential club nights. Over more than 250 events, Therapy shaped the true sound of Brisbane clubbing, both showcasing international acts and supporting locals at the same time. After a short hiatus in the wilderness of study, travel and spiritual transformation, Therapy returns to Brisbane with renewed vigour and of course that wild underground sound that gets your weekend started on the right foot.
HAIKU ::
Haiku, formerly known about Brisbane as Adrian Matyear, is a regarded DJ and producer with thousands of performance hours on the clock. As Adrian Matyear, he held down residencies at Family, Press Club, Barsoma and Jade Buddha concurrently for the better part of six years, along with regular showings at Subtrakt, Drop, Deeparture, Cloudland and more. His influence on Brisbane was obvious, with hundreds of local and international DJs performing alongside him at Therapy, and thousands of clubbers each week polishing the floor in the club. As an active member of the Sundae team, he also contributed to the massive success of the event over the last decade, and confirmed his ability to make a party jump any time of night or day. Having supported regarded international names like James Lavelle, Derrick Carter, Rocky from Xpress2, Steve Bug, Tim Green, Steve Lawler, and more, he is regarded both locally and internationally for his chugging, ground hugging house and deep wobbly techno.
ANNA SONNENBURG ::
Anna Sonnenburg first appeared at Therapy two years ago, blowing the crowd away with a performance that crossed disco, house, and techno and confirmed her ability to rock the floor at the highest level. Appearances at Sundae, Zuri, Press Club and Moonbar followed, her attention to detail and unique track selection endearing her to the Brisbane underground scene. Now attached to the Let’s Get Minimal crew, Anna is firm in her sound, and confident in her delivery, matching it with locals and internationals alike. Her return to Therapy a measure of her commitment to the underground sound and talent behind the mixer. Although more recently moving toward a darker sound, her roots remain firmly in underground house, marking a respect for the history before her, though delivered with a keen ear of a DJ breaking new ground.
