Plex & Corsica Studios present: Arpanet, Donato Dozzy, Mike Parker, Konx-Om-Pax, Tom Dicicco

  • Greetings Plex people! Before we get down to business many thanks to those that came down on the Jubilee Weekend and witnessed the mighty Kangding Ray, DJ Skirt, AnD & Perc amongst others destroy the main room at Corsica Studios. We'd also like to extend a very special thanks to all of you that made our very last minute unBLOC party at the Bussey Building such an incredible night, especially after we had all faced adversity just 24hrs prior with BLOC Weekend cancelling - to see something like that come out of the negativity was an explicit reminder of why we do what we do. Thank you so much! So in light of the summer wash-out we are all experiencing we've planned something a wee bit special to usher in and begin our winter programme for 2012... Plex and Corsica Studios team up to welcome back one of Detroit's most exceptional and revered artistic talents; Gerald Donald AKA Heinrich Mueller. He will be performing the live UK debut of his recently resurrected Arpanet project. Back in Feb 2009 we were extremely lucky to secure the debut Dopplereffekt live show in England, so we are ecstatic to bring you the chance to finally see Arpanet play in the UK - Arpanet adopts a more dance floor electro orientated style when compared with other Donald projects, whilst still maintaining that mystique that seems to always surround anything Herr Mueller puts his mind too. After missing out on the performance at BLOC due to the festival being cancelled, we hope you are as excited as we are in experiencing this sonic onslaught come Oct 5th. Next up we have the sublime talents of Donato Dozzy who will be making his debut at Plex. His spatial and hypnotic brand of techno is a joy to hear and he has an approach to techno music not often heard nowadays. Founder of the excellent Dozzy Records and one half of Voices From the Lake, Donato has had releases on Prologue, Further, Time To Express and Aquaplano amongst others. Having made regular appearances at Bleep43 over the years and more recently The Prologue label night at Corsica Studios as well as a host of international appearances, we are extremely pleased to welcome Donato back to London! Making another debut at Plex is someone we have wanted to have play for us since we began doing this in 2006 - Mike Parker. Owner of the seminal Geophone imprint and native of Buffalo NYC, Mike's sets are simply something else to witness, abstract, minimal, heads down 'lose yourself techno' at it's very finest. Having recently played at a Lost hosted room at Fabric we are delighted to be bringing Mike back over to finally destroy Corsica's main rig - this will be a very special extended session from Mike. The Pace is the new all-live project from DJ Guy (Global Fire) and Matt Chester (11th Hour). When they sent us the recordings of their first jam we were astounded to be told that this was raw, live, unrehearsed and unedited jamming. A great deal of artists struggle when taking their music into a live environment, but Guy and Matt have shown it's possible to lay straight down smash-up rhythms with proper machine funk totally off-the-cuff. This will be the world debut of this exciting new project... unmissable! We welcome back a long time friend and ally of Plex in the form of the inimitable Konx-Om-Pax. Tom Scholefield is a man on a mission and shows no sign of slowing his music, art, video and design workrate anytime soon. His debut album Regional Surrealism on Planet Mu is a simply incredible piece of work; don't take our word for it, go and have a listen yourselves! Tom will be playing an exclusive live A/V show at this one which you won't be able to see anywhere else in London. Expect your minds to be well and truly twisted up after hearing and seeing this performance! We're doing pretty well here, yet another Plex debutant - this time it's Northampton's Tom Dicicco, label owner of the excellent Inner Surface imprint. Tom is currently making big waves within the techno scene and has an ever increasing DJ schedule both here and on the continent so we're lucky to secure his talents for this one. Tom is definitely a rising star at the moment and definitely one to watch out for now and in the future. Jimmy Bolus, one time member and co-founder of Plex along with James and Luke has been busy concentrating on making music in recent years but we felt it was about time we welcomed back our good friend to play at something he was very much involved in starting. A member of the Delta-9 collective who were known for their eclectic lineups, expect cross-genre goodness from Mr Bolus on the night; it will be pure straight-through quality. Yet another debut is the mysteriously named GluttonFunk. Disco, italo, electro-funk, no-wave, you name it he'll play it but it better be from the 70's or 80's or there'll be trouble! Rounding all that amazingness up are your residents Skunkrock (who we welcome officially to the Plex fam), Luke Handsfree and James Tec. You know what to expect from that lot by now I'd hope! There's one or two surprises still to come for this one so watch out for further announcements made on Facebook, Twitter and RA... See you front left!!
