It's been nearly twelve months since London party crews Plex, Colony and Machine first joined forces for what has since gone down as Corsica Studios' biggest, baddest techno rave to date. It was simply epic. Since then it's been very much business as usual for each of us, with parties across London - and Europe - that have seen the likes of Hood, Shake, Perc and Dozz tear up bars, clubs, boats and warehouses, cheered on by an ever-growing legion of followers who never fail to do us proud.
And now it's time for P/C/M again. That means three F1-powered rooms of the best underground techno/bass music(s) currently out there, at London's leading underground club. Indeed, not only will it be 6th and 4th b-day vibes for Plex and Colony respectively, but this event marks the culmination of a month of shindigs held in honour of Corsica Studios' tenth year in existence (BANG!). We're beyond stoked about this, and have pulled out all the stops to bring you what, we think, is a line-up that really sums up why the club is held in such high regard by those in the know. PLEX - 6TH BIRTHDAY
So Nov 2nd sees us celebrate our 6th year doing Plex, and like every birthday party we do, we try to pull something that little bit more unexpected and special out of the hat. This one is no different. Topping the line-up is a UK exclusive debut live set from Ugandan Methods, a unique collaborative project between one of Birmingham's finest exports, Regis, and Berlin techno hero(es) Ancient Methods. They've come together over the past few years and created something pretty amazing to hear on record, and even more so in a live environment. This unmissable show has only been performed once before, in Berlin, and we're truly looking forward to experiencing it on Corsica's banging main room rig.
As Downwards label owner and co-founder of Sandwell District, Regis knows a thing or two about putting out decent music, and we're delighted to be welcoming Karl back to Plex to perform a rare live set for us. Having released prolifically under the Regis moniker for almost 2 decades now, on a variety of labels, it's hard to say what we'll hear on the night, but rest assured it will be of the highest quality and finesse, with a sizeable dose of unrelenting heaviness.
Meanwhile, anyone who knows Plex will be aware of the close relationship we've formed with Ancient Methods over the past few years, and it simply wouldn't be right to throw a birthday party and not get them back over for it. This time it will be a DJ set following on from the Ugandan Methods live show, where the scene will have been well and truly set for something special. The DJ credentials of former Tresor resident Trias are beyond question - you'll be hearing lots of amazing music put together immaculately, and no doubt a fair few rarities and forthcoming works in the mix.
Next up we have a long-time ally and friend of Plex, Nick Dunton, popping by to play under his 65D Mavericks guise. As label boss of the highly respected Surface imprint, Nick knows what London wants to hear techno-wise, and won't disappoint on the night. Last appearing for us at the Dopplereffekt party, and one of our cohorts for our Malta Static bash back in '08, we're chuffed to have Nick back playing for us at PCM #2.
It wouldn't be a Plex, though, without a couple of debut performances: first up it's Ø [Phase], dropping by to deliver us a tasty 2 hour set. Ashley has been on a roll of late, with his Binary Opposition release on Token getting the remix treatment from Ben Klock, Sigha and Inigo Kennedy, amongst others, and regular play from just about everyone else. He's an incredible DJ and you'll be hearing a storming end-of-the night set from him.
Our second Plex debut comes from another long-time supporter and friend, Simon Heartfield, who'll be performing an exclusive live A/V show specially written for this very event. Simon's music and visuals are deep, emotive pieces, reminiscent of Chris & Cosey, Coil and EBM, whilst still showing a crisp contemporary edge. We're really looking forward to hearing what he's put together for us tonight.
Finally, backing all of that up, you have Plex residents and brothers-in-arms Luke Handsfree and James Tec (the latter of whom's on birthday duties also!) and you'll know by now what to expect: fresh techno/bass/whateveryouwanttocallit goodness all the way!
COLONY - 4TH BIRTHDAY
Colony turn four years young this evening with a room 2 billing that says everything about their left-leaning, genre-spanning predilections. Last year's headliner, Peverelist, returns with fellow Bristolians Kowton and Asusu (both prized past guests too) to present their new and essential Livity Sound project. Drawing on a shared love of house, dub, grime and garage, their steadily growing back-catalogue boasts some of 2011 & 12's finest underground cuts, spanning broken post-'ardkore, sludgy dark-house and technoid stepper's riddims, all with an inimitable Brizzle flex. This is your chance to hear it played live and uncut, on a broad palette of analogue and digital kit for maximal F-One pressure. We can't wait.
Also on live duties, and with an equally hefty wodge of sub-bass dynamism ready to unleash, we're delighted to be welcoming over Cologne's Jens Massel aka Senking for his first-ever London show. A man responsible for some of Raster-Noton's heaviest and, at times, moodiest transmissions to date, his mighty Pong LP (the seventh of his career, no less) and subsequent Tweek and Dazed EPs rank among our favourite records to have emerged from the recent(ish) marriage of UK soundystem flavas and more refined continental electronics. With nearly fifteen years of experience under his belt, expect advanced, subtly uncompromising sounds from him.
Finally, we're no less chuffed to be welcoming back another close ally: Miles Whittaker aka MLZ aka Millie, whose productions for Modern Love under all of those names, and as one half of Demdike Stare, mark him out as one of the UK's most unique and talented producers. No slouch behind the decks, he'll be dropping in under his Millie (read: neo-junglist) moniker with a heap of bass-minded club gear from across the ages - drawing on a mammoth and thoroughly enviable vinyl collection for the purposes.
Support comes from Colony residents Tengui (fresh off the back of beatless remix work for our good mate TVO's Broken20 imprint) and MB & CB, joining the dots with everything from vintage IDM to evil electro.
MACHINE
Hosting the expanded space into the next building - and turning Corsica Studios into a 3-room venue in the process - is the 'new techno only' concept clubnight, Machine. Curated by UK techno veterans and residents Ben Sims and Kirk Degiorgio and run by the same crew behind I Love Acid, Machine is a techno clubnight with a difference: Ben and Kirk handpick special guests - Rolando, Surgeon, Kevin Saunderson, Adam X and Robert Hood are just a few - to play one-off, exclusive sets focusing on new and upcoming techno. Machine travels from venue to venue, country to country, and since it's inception at the beginning of 2011, has already seen events in Trouw (Amsterdam), Berghain (Berlin) and The Loft (Barcelona), as well as parties in Dublin, Austria and more, and spawned a record label of the same name to boot. Corsica Studios is its natural home in London.
Headlining the Machine room tonight is Jack Dunning aka Untold. Hot off the back of his superb Change in a Dynamic Environment EP series, Mr Dunning is currently releasing some of the finest boundary-pushing music around, simultaneously blasting dancefloors and attracting worldwide critical acclaim. With releases under his belt on the likes of Clone, Hessle Audio, Planet Mu and his own Hemlock imprint, and remix duties for the likes of Boys Noize and Moderat, he's currently one of the UK underground's most in demand and highly regarded DJ/producers - and the hype is justified. Tonight is your chance to see why.
Joining Untold in the Machine room is A Made Up Sound. A project of Netherlands native (but Berlin-residing) Dave Huismans, aka 2562, AMUS has seen a series of massive 12"s released since 2006, on Clone, Delsin, Subsolo, 50Weapons and his own imprint of the same name. Regarded as amongst most forward thinking producers to have crossed over from the dubstep scene into leftfield house/techno, his output as A Made Up Sound is as relentless and driving as it is funk-, soul- and swing-packed. He's an amazing DJ (as his set for Plex earlier this year testified to), and will no doubt be rocking the room 3 F1s hard this evening.
Meanwhile, Machine curator and resident Ben Sims will be joining his long-time musical partner Paul Mac with the debut set of their brand new collaborative project: Fokus Group. They've been keeping the details a very closely guarded secret (even from us!), but seeing as their other dual show is Killa Productions - which mashes up their own edits and remixes of old skool rave classics - we're expecting a very special take on the Machine concept tonight. Paul Mac is a master of deep acid techno and house, while Ben Sims is one of the world's most in demand vinyl DJs, known for his tough, funky approach to hardgroove techno - so Fokus Group looks like it could be something very special indeed...
Finally, fellow resident Kirk Degiorgio needs very little introduction. With a three decade career spanning multiple genres and styles, this forward-thinking DJ/producer is recognised as the first professional jock in the world to switch entirely to Ableton (yep, believe it or not this is true!). A man who has always looked towards progressing and advancing music (Kirk and Ben were men responsible for Machine's 'new techno only' concept, no less), this event is the perfect foil for him. While his output is known for its deep and soulful side, he's not afraid to play it tough and hard on the dancefloor - expect an intricate and exciting set of upfront/unreleased/unheard of techno from him.

So that, friends, is the gist of it. If you've read this far, congratulations! All that remains to be said is that, as with last year's event, we've done our very best too keep the entry price reasonable (£14 adv. for a rave of this scale is, quite frankly, ridiculous), and will be working hard to make sure everything is as smooth and seamless as possible on the night.
