Blkmarket Membership with Mike Huckaby, Ripperton, Jozif

  • Event will be held at Hudson Terrace, we will add our own sound system and production. Sunday [September 30th] Blkmarket Membership wraps up the summer with some true sonic gratification. The last day party of 2012 has some Detroit, Suisse, and Brit pizzazz mixing up some intoxicating and deep beats till the sun goes down. Coming to you from Motor City, the man behind the once legendary Record Time store, Mike Huckaby, is in NYC to drop some beats. Having become the busiest remixer from Detroit in the past few years, Huckaby has been busy producing music on his two labels, Deep Transportation, and S Y N T H, well known amongst underground DJs worldwide. With his highly acclaimed deep house productions and remixes for Deepchord, Juan Atkins, Vladislav Delay, Pole, Loco Dice, LoSoul, and Pacou (just to name a few) Huckaby will be bringing Detroit sound to this lovely day. Hailing from neutral territory, Ripperton spins some melodic and lush electronic sound. His first releases came under the names of Soul Merge and Reasons, the latter won the Diesel U Music awards in 2003 and then led to the setting up of his first label, Lovearth Records. He gained outstanding popularity with his project Lazy Fat People that was signed to labels like Border Community, Wagon Repair and Carl Craig's Planet E, as well as new successes as a solo artist known as Ripperton. He's also released tracks on Dessous, Systematic, Rekids, Liebe Detail, Connaisseur and many more top labels, and delivered remixes for Laurent Garnier, Beanfield, Steve Lawler and the exceptional Radiohead. It is in 2006 when he started the well-known underground label, Perspectiv Records, which brought out some fresh talent from Switzerland and around the world and nurtured some interesting interactions with amazing producer like Tobias, DJ Koze and Isolée. Definitively one of the most creative Swiss DJs of today, Ripperton is a perfect electronic music chameleon. A name that has lately been gaining increasing attention from the who’s who of the underground electronic music community is London based DJ and producer Jozif. With an infectious and underlying groove to his rhythms - Jozif has a unique presence in and out of the booth, encapsulating his floor and coaxing them alongside his ever-changing musical explorations. Craig Richards, Ben Watt, Matt Tolfrey, Andrew Weatherall, Paul Woolford and Ashley Beadle alongside London’s fabric, lo*kee and Ibiza’s We Love...Space have all fallen for Jozif’s quirky and impossible-to-pigeon-hole beats. Loose and lazy drum patterns, dramatic strings and brass tinged with slo-mo ambience and a rolling undercurrent of funk depict a soundtrack all of his own that resonates with our musical heart strings whilst evoking the dirtiest bump and grit of a twisted 6am dance floor. 2010 was a solid year all round with releases on Wolf + Lamb, Vitalik, and Fist or Finger gaining mass support alongside features on the Balance 016 compilation and an end of year RA podcast. Mixed entirely of his own edits, the podcast’s unique edge garnered such support from industry and public alike that it goes down as one of the most talked about RA podcasts to date and sets the scene for a highly anticipated 2011. Indulge in a day of unrestricted electronic sound, where the music will play testament to the fact that it is there to be heard and felt... let the beats rip.
