Nixwax 1st Birthday with Rhythm Connection and Spam Chop

  • On Friday 14th September, come down to the Plan B Basement to celebrate one year of Nixwax with the Nixfam and our special guests: Rhythm Connection [NTS/Dalston Superstore] and Spam Chop [Wigflex]. DAN BEAUMONT AND NADIA KSAIBA AS RHYTHM CONNECTION: As well as being supporter of Nixwax from day 1, Dan and Nadia are a pair of real vinyl addicts who host a show on the broadcasting upstart of London: NTS Live. Their incendiary DJs sets meanwhile see them slipping through disco, house, techno and more are gaining them international acclaim and has seen them shipping off to festivals all over the place this summer. We can't wait to have their tanned faces in the booth supplying the vibes. Lukas has received no end of praise for his "Cuckup EP" on the MiMM label but it's his eclectic DJ sets that have us dribbling where he'll get away with playing tracks every DJ wish they could but never work out how to drop. His tracks are both unique and varied in a way that producers twice his age would be envious of and he has gained himself a reputation as one of Newcastle's best resident DJs in a very short time. Nixwax have grabbed him for a rare show in London... catch him while you can! He was wowing Nixwax with his productions long before the start of the label but amazingly the first time they saw him play live was at this year's Gottwood festival where he tore the roof off, receiving, dare we say, more plaudits that some of the much bigger DJs on the bill. Nixwax fans come back to Kris' EP time and again has been returned to time and again and remains one of the most unique records sitting under the 'House' section in any records shop. His release was the very first on Nixwax and set the blueprint for what has followed on the label. They say that "you only get one chance to make a first impression" and OJ left a 12-inch orange impression in the record bags of DJs worldwide. Spot them behind the decks, on the door or on the floor... with big, fat, stupid grins all over their faces. Nixwax was set up just 12 months ago by three young friends from Kent. As the story often goes, they knew about loads of great unsigned artists but had no way of getting this music out to the people. As a result some entirely cavalier decision-making with regards to their respective futures (and bank balances) they formed Nixwax as an outlet to foster unknown talent from the burgeoning house and techno scenes. This year has seen them work a variety of interesting jobs, travel up and down the country and have some bloody good parities all in the name of funding the venture and they are thrilled to be releasing their fifth record. To celebrate Nixwax have booked some of their favourite DJs who are guaranteed to make this Birthday celebration a night to remember.
