Coinciding with the release of Moodmusic label boss Sasse’s 3rd artist album “Third Encounter” and Sydney duo Trinity & Beyond’s 1st release “This Dream” with the Berlin based label we thought we should put our collective musical heads together and celebrate in a way befitting Sydney....ie; a night full of great music, friendly vibes in Sydneys best intimate space for underground music lovers.
Third Encounter is one of the finest deep house albums you’ll hear this year, from the heads down funk of “Fingers Inc” to the stripped back groove of “Sloow love”, and classic house cuts like “What can you love” and the futuristic vibe of “Alpha” this is true musicality.
The album heralds a return production wise to the fully analog domain, produced and mixed on analog gear at his BlackHead Studios in Berlin.
Third Encounter showcases the past 20 years of Klas Lindblad as a musician, dj and sound engineer, one who’s seen most of the modern musical styles evolve and dissolve.
The label showcase welcomes Sydney duo Trinity & Beyond to the Moodmusic family with their collaboration with Alexkid titled “This Dream” which is due for release early September (which also features a remix from another Sydney favourite YoKoO). This dream is aptly titled, it’s a dreamy dubby melodic journey track, summing up the warmer vibes found on so many of the tracks you’d find on Moodmusics back catalogue.
Further bolstering the Moodmusic presence on the night we’re excited to welcome Moodmusics Melbourne part of the MM Family, one of the countrys finest, Mike Buhl. The past year has seen Mike working a lot harder in the studio in terms of original material and experimenting with the 'live' element with his sound residing somewhere between house and techno. As well as releasing music on MM Mike has also released on heavyweight label Dirt Crew Recordings and Melbourne labels Haul Music and Pinksilver.
Rounding off the line up are Sydney favourite deep house jock’s who must also be credited with exposing Sydney to its first encounter with the talented Sasse last year, the Co-Op Djs. For those who’ve not heard one of the lads always on point warm up sets, well you are missing out....and for this special event we’re inviting the lads to let loose the shackles of keeping it mellow and giving them free reign with a much anticipated closing set.
