  • Hi LA Freqs, It'll have been 3 months since we hosted Superfreq at Dim Mak Studios in Hollywood with Magda, so of course we're all über excited to get freqy with you again, & do we have one hell of a humdinger in store. For our September 8th soiree, Superfreq Presents an invasion of New Yorks absolute finest with kings of the Brooklyn underground scene ReSolute vs the New York label of the moment, Scissor and Thread. Tickets: http://tickets-superfreq-sept08.eventbrite.com RSVP: http://tickets-superfreq-sept08.eventbrite.com Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/332819530143833/ Room One - ReSolute Alexi Delano Mr C Elon Connie David Scuba Room Two - Scissor & Thread Frank & Tony aka (Adultnapper & Anthony Collins) Xo Chic So, now to tell you about all of these amazing artists... ... Take a deep breath... Our main guest in room one is a Superfreq favourite, the DJ that sonically lives in the future, Alexi Delano. You may know his productions from way back in the day as part of the first wave of Swedish techno DJ's (although he's Chilean) on techno labels like Svek & Primate, or you may know him for his releases as ADNY on his own imprint of the same name, or his releases on Plus 8, or even for his newer releases on Poker Flat & Items & Things. However you recognize this hero, it'll be for all the right reasons. If you're fortunate enough to know him for his spinning, then you'll know that Alexi is one of the best DJ's in the world that never compromises, always moving forward playing the grooviest techno, that's innovative, forward thinking, funky as shit & sexy as hell, & this wonderful man will twist your mind with the most cutting edge electronica imaginable & is someone Mr.C personally rates as one of his favorite DJs in the world. Next we introduce ReSolute resident & promoter Elon. Elon established himself through his widely creative and dancefloor-igniting sets as his distinctive style glides between house and techno, from a dark and emotive territory to the more rhythmic and uplifting character of electronic music. His sharp ear for detail is reflected in his fluid sets and immaculate productions, a skill honed from his rich instrumental background and longtime work as a sound engineer. Since his first release in 2006 on Made to Play, Elon has produced several successful EPs and remixes on Clink Recordings and Dumb-Unit, as well as for various international imprints such as Apparel Music, Auralism, Bedrock, Rrygular, Metroline, Infant and RetroMetro. His releases like the Bummalo EP, Movin’ In EP, Fxck Cuba EP and tracks such as Clap Back and Green Ghost have received critical acclaim from notable producers across the globe. In 2011, Elon launched his own imprint, ReSolute Label. The project stemmed from his residency at ReSolute and is now on its fourth EP, Franklin De Costa’s “Bliss” EP, in which he is featured as remixer. Next up we introduce ReSolute resident Connie. Born and raised in Queens, NY, Connie broke into DJing in 2002, quickly becoming a major contributor to the city's underground scene. With a deep fluid mix of forward thinking 4/4 styles and a precise rhythmic sensibility that flows from her alter ego as a thumping rock drummer, Connie is a consistent crowd favorite and a consummate pro who always brings the goods. Connie's natural talent and tireless dedication to her craft have earned her turns alongside a litany of techno's most hyped, whom she regularly but humbly outshines. Riding on a stream of milestones that includes a 1st prize showing in the 2006 Village Voice spinoff contest (Landing her a spot at Ultrafest), hotly tipped opening slots at the infamous Sunday School For Degenerates event at WMC 2007 & 2009, and an appearance at Canada's biggest techno party, Piknic Electronik in 2008, Connie's profile is steadily on the rise. Under the name "conStar," Connie's eagerly anticipated first release came out in February 2009 on Airdrop Record's Extraction 2 CD, followed by a remix, and a vinyl release, Sunset Tribe EP, all on Airdrop and available on Beatport. Starting with her recent remix on Nosi Records in 2011, Connie plans to focus more time on production and her new band project, Jaded Lover. Stay tuned for more. Our very own Residents & promoters Mr.C (The Shamen / The End / Plink Plonk / Poker Flat / Wagon Repair / Get Physical etc & David Scuba (Riff Raff / Superfreq etc) who really need no introduction in our fair city of angels, will be opening up proceedings with a back to back set & in doing so will be celebrating the brand new release of David Scuba & Mikael Stravöstand on Riff Raff, an EP on which Mr.C has a killer remix, for what promises to be a completely slammin' fluff free zone of room one. In Room 2 we welcome Francis Harris & Anthony Collins who when in the studio turn into their transvestite alter egos Frank & Tony. As Francis Harris, Frank has been touring his brand new album Leland as both a live set & a DT tour, which is out now on his exciting new imprint Scissor & Thread, as well as doing his joint project as Frank & Tony. Scissor & Thread is an extremely innovative label that's immediately captured the hearts & minds of fans on both the dance & Indie music scenes & is causing a huge stir in Francis' home town of New York with the label's showcases at Wolf & Lamb's infamous Marcy Hotel, pushing Brooklyn to brand new heights & Scissor & Thread being well noted the world over. As Adultnapper, Francis has produced for every label worth its note in cutting edge electronic music including Poker Flat, Get Physical, Clink, Mule Electronic & Simple to our very own Superfreq label & beyond. With our very own Mr.C, these two freqs are together the Sycophant Slags who have released an EP every year for the last 10 years. Francis has owned labels Matter//:form, Ransom Note & Footnote, as well as Scissor & Thread, so this dance music work horse has learned about all sides of the industry on his rise & rise which shows no sign of ever holding up. As a DJ, Francis has played the best clubs the world over including The End, Fabric, DC10, Panorama Bar / Berghain, Watergate, The Rex, the list is endless & he also hosts his own monthly night at New York's Cielo. On top of all of this Mr. Harris continues to score soundtracks for noted installa- tion artist Matthew Weinstein. His composition for "Chariots of the Gods," featuring the last recording of the late Natasha Richardson, debuted to great reviews at NYC's Sonnabend Gallery in Sept. '09. His second Weinstein commission, "The Childhood of Berthold Brecht," this time with actress Blair Brown on vocal debuted Sept. 2011, drawing praise from the New York Times. Joining Francis as Frank & Tony is the incredible underground DJ/producer Anthony Collins. Anthony got his first taste of music as a child at his father’s jazz recording studio right here in LA, but it wasn’t until later in France that he discovered electronic music, quickly establishing himself on the scene playing at the city’s most prestigious nights including Rex Club and Batofar, and most recently landing a residency at Paris’ Cirque Bonheur in 2011. Abroad, Anthony has frequented the decks at Panorama bar and Berghain, Weekend and Watergate in Berlin, ADE and Studio 80 in Amsterdam, London’s Fabric, Circoloco DC10 and Space Ibiza, Sonar Barcelona, Goa Rome and Madrid, BLK! Market New York, and BPM conference Mexico to name but a few. His EP’s span the iconic French imprint Freak n’Chic, to the hailed deep tech sounds of Curle, Steve Bug’s Poker Flat, Vakant, Mule Electronic, Ibadan, liebe*detail, Horizontal and Supplement Facts. On the remix front Collins’ talent and style has allowed him to rework artists as huge as Ricardo Villalobos, as well as Lee Foss, Cesare vs Disorder, Alejandro Vivanco , Boris Werner and Public Lovers (the new project from Bruno Pronsato). In 2009 he released his first artist album ‘Doubts & Shouts’ on Freak n’Chic, much to the acclaim of many on the underground scene, And a highlight of 2011, indeed of Anthony’s career to date, has to be his co-production with Ricardo Villalobos and Los Updates ‘I Throw Water Into The Lake’, a sultry, almost eerie, deep tech number on Nice Cat! Records. Frank & Tony will of course be joining Superfreq's first lady of electronica, the amazingly gorgeous & talented Xo Chic (Dollz At Play / Wagon Repair) who simply cannot do a thing wrong on the wheels of steel. It really doesn't get any better than this & these 2 rooms will be off the proverbial hook from the second doors open at 10pm until we get turfed out onto the Hollywood streets.
