In a special event put together with Berlin underground festival Club Transmediale, RA is proud to present a club night which celebrates deep house and dub techno, bringing together two of the legendary originators of each of these genres with the best of the new guard.
From ‘Can You Feel It?’ to ‘The Sun Can’t Compare’, Chicago legend <b>Larry Heard</b> has been captaining the deep house ship for twenty years and we're delighted to have him in Berlin. He'll be joined in the Golden Groove room by <b>Efdemin</b>, RA’s top producer of 2007 and very much a killer DJ in his own right. We're also proud to present two live p.a's: <b>Prosumer</b>, <b>Murat Tepeli</b> and diva <b>Elif Bicer</b> will be mixing up records, gear and live vocals in classic house style, and Zürich maverick <b>Kalabrese</b>, who signs on for the party with nothing less than a full band in tow. Wedding hardware, brass instruments and live percussion, Kalabrese and his Rumpelorchester represent a distinctly freak folk take on the house template—expect funk just as likely made from sampled cutlery as 808s. In summary: golden grooves all round, and house music all night long.
Meanwhile, Silver Reverb is our dub techno showcase, and look who we’ve snared for the occasion. <b>Moritz von Oswald</b>, the legendary producer behind Basic Channel/Maurizio/Rhythm & Sound, will be debuting a new live project with some secret special guests in for the evening. Surely an unmissable event for true dub believers. Elsewhere, representing the young guard is a planeload of Mancunians—<b>Andy Stott</b>, <b>Claro Intelecto</b> and <b>Pendle Coven</b>—from white hot imprint Modern Love, issuer of a dozen prized 12-inch vinyls in 2007, not to mention recipient of the #3 trophy in RA’s top label list of 2007. Each of these artists is contributing their own forward-thinking take to the electronic dub template—so much so we wonder if Manchester is set to become the third pillar in the renowned Detroit/Berlin dub techno axis.
