There are not many artists of this type. Djs who believed in Techno from the first minute, djs who experienced Techno from the very beginning, djs who made techno their own thing. Djs who found their own style, even more, who developed it over the years, djs who`s name is the expression for a specific sound. Alex Bau is one of them.
Starting his own label ‘Toneman’ back in 2000 Alex Bau also started his solo productions for labels such as Chris Liebing`s “CLR” and the Montreal based label "Default Recordings". Releases such as the “Earstrain EP” on CLR made the underground Techno scene stand up and take notice of what he was delivering as an artist and a Dj.
Alex also released his now acclaimed debut-album “Connected” in late 2004, which immediately drew the attention of many high class djs such as Chris Liebing, Pascal FEOS and Richie Hawtin to name just a few. The fact that these artists, all-standing for a different kind of style, grabbed the tracks from Connected and hit the technofloors in a very impressive way, so that he was able to collect international experiences behind the decks all over the world.
Playing major events such as Loveparade in Germany, Open Air in Austria, Circuito in Brazil, and Rave Montreal Canada, there aren’t too many places left for Alex to showcase his sound. However, Australia is one place he is yet to explore. Come Sunday September 9, it will be Melbourne’s turn for its faithful Techno community to step out and experience the unique heaving sound that is Alex Bau.
