Circus London X - Tenth Birthday with Yousef, Riva Starr & Sascha Dive + White Jail lab

  • Circus, the Liverpool based clubnight that has become one of the most revered on the continent, turns ten in stunning style this September. What began back in 2002 in Liverpool has since gone onto become one of the most hotly anticipated and widely loved parties on the planet, existing around the simple mantra – ‘Serious music, Fun Times’. In summarising the impact of Circus’ decade of dance and the justifications for setting up the London “Historically it’s been a ride, with UK debuts for (then unknown DJs) including Loco Dice and Davide Squillace, and even bringing MTV to Liverpool for the first time. Warm up slots for new guys Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler, breaking our mould with Laurent Garnier to booking new names like Luciano for the club seven years ago all are amazing memories. Then there’s winning UK Club of the Year and hosting two Radio 1 Essential Mixes at The Masque, one being the 500th Essential Mix party. It has been a real challenge to keep it going but a real pleasure to see the faces and the enthusiasm of our loyal crowd, and we thank them profusely for their ongoing support. Now we have managed to figure out a way to transplant the same vibes down to London, and even after a few months we’re already seeing the same results. It’s very exciting.” That attitude has been a cornerstone of the transplantation of the party to London in 2012, with a recently refurbished Egg infused with Circus’ trademark swagger every final Friday of the month. So far they’ve had the likes of Dinky, Oliver Huntemann, Dan Ghenacia, Mendo and Tom Flynn all play, and this special Birthday showcase is no exception, boasting a smorgasbord of electronic music talent. Joining Yousef will be Italian house music sensation Riva Starr, a man whose 2012 has been dominated by his brilliantly well received ‘Bateria Fantastica’ project, a new outlet for his touring and productions. The first album dropped this year with music from the likes of Carl Cox and Guti, whilst monolithic Belgian festival Tomorrowlands featured a Bateria Fantastica stage. German firebrand Sascha Dive, fresh off a summer season as part of Cocoon’s Heroes in Ibiza and the continuing success of his Deep Vibes imprint, joins Circus resident Leiws Boardman in the rest of the line-up. Sascha Dive is shining really bright. This young man from Frankfurt and his label Deep Vibes Recordings is among the most promising new producers and companies in Germany at the moment who, despiteclear references to early U.S.-American sounds, all have found their very own rhythm and style by now. She has smashed out of the blogosphere with his unique patchwork of styles, swiftly establishing himself as one of the most unique and recognisable producer / DJ today. Riva - with his love for re-inventing any music that inspires him - has coined the term "Snatch!" to describe his very personal bootleg remix technique, snatching and pick-pocketing any music style and making it his own. Also known as "Mezcla" - the Spanish word for blending or fusion - Riva's music moves from mood to mood, genre to genre, but always leaving his cheeky, wobbly footprint. The expression of "ThanksMate" has derived from a culture and country that has given them the opportunity and freedom to formulate their music ideas together. Thus, ThanksMate was born with an objective to produce and show their fans their gratitude for their passionate support. Fabio Agostini originally comes from a Dark Techno background in which he has been placed on some of the most important labels such as Elektrax Recordings and Naked lunch to name a few. He is also heavily supported by other famous DJs with the likes from Dave Clarke, Ben Sims, Chris Liebing, Alex Karakasis and many more. He has also entered strongly several times on the Beatport top 50 in the Techno category. His latest release was with Nachstrom Schallplatten and platimum records. On the contrary, Merko Palomba has gathered an extensive wide range of experience within the Deep house scenario with a release out on Globox from Sasha Carassi and supported by Jeff Samuel,Ralf and many others. This has then resulted in a fusion taste for music in which they have integrated their mix of passion and devotion for electronic music into a fresh new and funky beat that will let you jump all night long. Already having spinned together with DJs like Troy Pierce, Matt Tolfrey, Glimpse, Danny Benedittini and many more. These duo are hungry for music, always in search of new ideas and for that perfect drop, they will be releasing their taste of fusion music very soon. So watch out for this two very talented DJs as they ready to shake the world of music up.
