Louche presents Apollonia with Dyed Soundorom, Dan Ghenacia & Shonky

  • We got a special one for you this October; an all night 6 hour back-to-back-to-back performance by the Apollonia label owners Dan Ghenacia, Shonky and Dyed Soundorom. Apollonia has got off to a flying start since its inception at the start of this year. In a way it's a continuation from the now dissolved Freak N Chic- Dan Ghenacia's old French imprint responsible for the early works of Dyed, Shonky and even Jamie Jones, except Apollonia goes a little deeper than just being a label.. It also represents their three way back to back sessions when performing, and is more conceptual- really defining the threesome's sound, what they do, and who they are. They are releasing tunes of course- the first EP came from Shonky in Spring, Dyed plans a solo release next, and an album from Chris Carrier & Hector Moralez is due before the end of the year. But more than just this they plan on repressing some house classics that mean a lot to them, and are even due to work with Kerri Chandler. Individually the three of them have pretty much done it all. Dyed will be returning for his fourth gig with us here at Louche, one of our favourite guests who never fails to move Mint Club's dance-floor. Coming over off the back of a third successful season as one of Circo Loco DC-10s summer residents the charming Parisian is bound to have a record bag packed full of gems for us. Dan Ghenacia makes his Louche debut, the only one of the French threesome we are yet to meet. His old label Freak n' Chic broke Shonky, Dyed and many others into the global house scene, and it was he who called upon the others to form the new collective. They all met in Paris' Club Batofar many years ago, at an afterparty where Dan was spinning, Dyed and Shonky being immediately impressed with Dan's genre crossing style and ability to maintain a constant groove. The three have been inseparable since. Still based in Paris but gigging every weekend at the worlds top underground venues, it's gonna be great to welcome Dan to Leeds. And lastly Shonky. His was the first release on Apollonia in February; The Minneapolis E.P was received well by critics and party-goers alike, featuring his trademark bumping basslines and groovy, smooth house rhythms. He too has been a main stay at DC 10 this year, as well as at Panorama Bar and Watergate in Berlin where he now lives. He rocked the pants off our fourth birthday party last November, bank on him doing the same tonight. Apollonia in the house, 6 hours back to back in Mint Club, don't miss it x
