Eglo Records November Tour
Niche Productions presents the Sydney leg of the debut Australian tour of Eglo Records stalwarts Floating Points, Alexander Nut and Fatima. One of the most highly respected new record labels of the last few years, there’s not much the London based label hasn’t tried on and succeeded with flying colours.
One half label boss Sam Shepherd aka Floating Points’ productions spring to mind as some of the most essential club tracks of recent memory, starting with his delicious Post-Retro slice Love Me Like This, before his sample free (and still very much in demand) Vacuum Boogie 12” and culminating in last years Shadows double EP (which appeared in Resident Advisor’s top 50 tracks of 2011), which scored an almost unbeatable 9/10 in the reviews section of RA, too.
The other half, Alexander Nut is known as one of the UK’s most reputable freestyle DJs and radio personalities, taking over Rinse FM’s Saturday afternoon timeslot and delivering the best in new music, crate gems and special guests. When he’s not involved with his club and radio runnings, he’s co-managing A&R for the label that has recently dropped singles by GB, Krystal Klear, Alix Perez’s ARP101 project and the current dancefloor bomb Phoneline by Funkineven & Fatima.
Fatima is oft dubbed ‘Queen’ and for good reason. The instantly recognisable voice-of-an-angel has graced so many killer club tunes including her own two EPs on Eglo; Fatima is not the next Alice Russell or Jenna G, she’s the first Fatima and she’ll be blessing the mic whilst Alexander Nut and Floating Points take to the decks.
