BEMF 2012: Day 1

  • The 5th Annual Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival (BEMF) comes to the heart of Williamsburg for a multi-night, multi-venue takeover on November 9 and 10, 2012. Taking place across Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn Bowl, Public Assembly, Glasslands, Cameo and The Villain Loft; BEMF will premiere the most talked about and about-to-break talents in electronic music in addition to presenting some of the dance world's veteran favorites. Over the past several years MeanRed-produced BEMF has proven its ability to curate an event that is culturally stimulating and sonically satisfying, with live sets and performances from Four Tet, Matthew Dear, The Juan McLean, Fischerspooner, Hudson Mohawke, Lauren Flax, Daedelus, Reggie Watts, Azari + III, Kid Sister, Sinden, Treasure Fingers, Javelin, Tittsworth, and many more. "BEMF prides itself on its representation of the elusive but coveted sonic creators that are pushing the boundaries of what new music is and defining what seeps into the mainstream. Brooklyn is emerging as a center point of the international dance music community and we are excited to highlight the unique Brooklyn style and showcase how it is becoming a home of creativity in our favorite community of artists," says Katie Longmyer, of MeanRed. Some of this year's acts will include Nicolas Jaar (live), Gold Panda (live), Jackmaster, Photek, Benji B, Baths, Onra, Nick Hook, and Hiawatha with many more to be announced. As done in years past, in addition to sculpting an electronic music environment, BEMF will continue to feature other local Brooklyn businesses and mediums for artistic expression, including a food truck lot, curated art experiences, and more.
