Playground Weekender 08

  • “Playground Weekender was everything a festival should be. I can honestly say that this was one of the best weekends of music I’ve had for a very long time. It was a privilege to be present… and I hope to be back at Wiseman’s Ferry in years to come”. Inthemix March 2007 witnessed the dawn of a new era amidst the usual music festival mayhem. Through the chaos rose a brand new camping and music festival, one where stunning scenery, relaxation, great food, and an idiot-free crowd came together with fantastic live music and DJs that drove spirits high for three fun-filled days. The great news is that Playground Weekender returns on 7th, 8th, and 9th March 2008! Just 1.5 hours from Sydney in the beautiful Del Rio Resort in Wiseman’s Ferry, the boutique Playground Weekender is in a stunning location like no other. Whilst one day festivals can have you racing between stages desperate to pack in as much as possible, Playground Weekender is spread over three days, allowing revellers to take their time to relax and explore everything on offer in between catching some of the world’s best live bands and DJs. Alongside the music, the Weekender features cinema, cabaret, a healing area, great food, cocktail bars, a swimming pool, and a host of accommodation options. Imagine waking up on Saturday morning to a stunning riverside vista, surrounded by hills, trees, and with the odd kangaroo hopping by. You could be in one of the site’s luxury cabins, on a houseboat on the mighty Hawkesbury River, in a campervan, or really get into the spirit by camping – tents, tipis, yurts, the choice is yours. If you’re in the tent hotel you may have organized breakfast and a newspaper to be delivered to you. Otherwise you might get up and wander over to the central festival village where you’ll find unbeatable organic coffee, and endless breakfast options. After that you could take a quick dip in the swimming pool or grab a lounger and top up your tan. If that’s not relaxing enough, maybe wander over to the healing field for a massage or manicure, or if you want something more active, perhaps a game of volleyball or tennis. By lunch time you may fancy a full home-style roast in the on-site pub, and once fuelled you’ll be ready to emerge into a music lover’s paradise. Three main stages will feature an eclectic mix of top international live bands and world class DJs, whilst the Uncharted Shack will showcase the cream of local talent. There’s also the already famous pool party, which in 2008 will be hosted by Ladylux, and a cabaret tent where you might enter the interpretive dance competition or just laugh at those who do. Of course, Saturday is fancy dress night, so take some time out to get your costume together. After a jam packed evening of dancing, drinking, and meeting new friends, you could retire to bed to recharge for another day of adventure, or you may choose to head to the open-air cinema to unwind with a classic movie. If all this can be fit into one day, just imagine what can be done in three! A full artist line-up will be announced shortly. For those with the good sense not to wait, a limited number of earlybird weekend tickets are on sale from Monday 19th November at the once only price of $120 including free camping from www.inthemix.com.au & www.fasterlouder.com.au. Once these sell out, full-price entry tickets will be on sale for $150 with campsite tickets for $40 – so save a massive $70 by getting in early!
