  • Having sold out The Roundhouse (twice) and The Forum now DOOM takes it underground with an exclusive full solo show at the cavernous entrails of this East London venue performing JJ DOOM as well as classic DOOM material! With a huge line-up of newcomers and legends in the game the program reads like a Hip Hop enthusiast’s wishlist and promises to be a damn good way to spend a Friday in town. Represent! DOOM has previously worked under various pseudonyms including MF DOOM, VIKTOR VAUGHN, DANGER DOOM (with Danger Mouse) and MADVILLAIN (with Madlib). An essential and outlandish figure in underground hip hop, he always covers his face behind a Dr Doom mask and has created his own universe centered around the world of comic books and Japanese monsters. His unconventional approach, linguistic dexterity and sick flow have gained DOOM an army of ardent fans from far-flung corners of the music world, and counts musicians of the calibre of Thom Yorke as some of his biggest supporters. With new album “KEY TO THE KUFFS” in collaboration with Jneiro Jarel out now on Lex Recordings, DOOM is more influential and relevant than ever. Playing his first London date since February, Rodney P aka Da Riddim Killa, original London Possee member and one of the undisputed legends in the game will be on hand to spit fiyah on his dub-heavy music! Pay your respects! Returning to the Village Underground stage, Yungun & Mr Thing will be laying it down like only they can. Guaranteed to set the scene, Mr Thing, aka the ‘best one from the Scratch Perverts’, is no stranger in the London scene, and is probably the most underrated DJ currently operating in London. With the added lyrical firepower that his long-time collaborator Essa aka Yungun provides, you just know it’s going to go off… time and time again! Taking the stage for an exclusive performance will be one of the hottest talents in hip hop right now, Thunderbird Gerard. A rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist, this Berlin based New Yorker is one of the most provocative newcomers to the game and has been turning heads in all the right places. Fresh from supporting Shabazz Palaces and Battles on their European Tours, make sure to catch this huge rising talent. Kutmah played his first Soundcrash gig in support of Gonjasufi shortly after he arrived on these shores from the West Coast of Los Angeles. The Gaslamp Killer, also on the bill that night, described him to us before his set as the ultimate DJ’s DJ. We thought he may be exaggerating. He wasn’t. First Word Records’ Kidkanevil is a true homegrown innovator. Always hard at work on a number of projects (make sure you check his excellent collaboration with Daisuke Tanabe making the rounds at the moment) Gerard Roberts has been producing bass heavy beats as himself on First Word or for a number of acts including Stateless or Foreign Beggars. A stalwart of the London scene, KidK never disappoints. Hailing from Hackney the multi member collective Lazy Habits cross genres with ease, combining big band and hip-hop sampling sounds to give you the mariachi horn. Having raised the roof at numerous Soundcrash shows including prime support slots for Mos Def and Kid Koala, their opening set on November 2nd show will no doubt lay the groundwork for this incredible line up and metal face himself. This is a big one. Friday the 2nd of November Village Underground, London www.soundcrashmusic.com
