Beats In Space Radio presents Matias Aguayo, Ivan Smagghe, and Tim Sweeney

  • Advanced Tickets: http://goo.gl/OIieo Beats In Space: What began back in ‘99 as Tim Sweeney was just entering New York University, Beats in Space was formed in the college’s radio station. Then eventually the weekly shows began to make headway as mixes were recorded and broadcast around the web. Thirteen years later, Mr. Sweeney is at the forefront of dance music taste making. With one hand programming and building the budding NY New Disco scene, the other is found traveling the globe to play parties near and far. Matias Aguayo: The Chilean born DJ and vocalist Matias Aguayo has quite the unique sound. Originally at the forefront of the Minimal Techno movement as one half of the group Closer Musik, Matias eventually turned to terrain with more of a world music flair. He’s collaborated with rock artists like Battles on their single ‘Ice Cream’ and has released full length albums like ‘Ay Ay Ay’ that held emphasis on the use of the human voice. His single ‘I Don’t Smoke’ was released on kompakt last year and did real wonders on the dance floor. With it’s tongue and cheek message and Garageband-like instrument samples, tracks like these are redefining this artist altogether. Ivan Smagghe: Ivan Smagghe has consistently been referred to as ‘The DJ’s DJ.’ What brought him to this title consisted of years of eclectic productions and mixes. He started out writing under the guise of Black Strobe and eventually It’s a Fine Line where Ivan has pushed genre bending boundaries with his co-pilot Tim Paris . The French producer has stood up to shows as large as Goa and Fabric, and has toured the world over. Besides being an A&R rep for the label Kill The DJ, Mr. Smagghe can also be found collaborating with producers like Roman Flugel and Ewan Pearson.
