  • Another year, another legendary Halloween Party. The last 2 years Halloween Club Nights have been amazing. Many people wont forget 2010 when Alex Celler joined Beatsworkin for probably the best party of the year at the venue, and last year Guy Williams was the guest dj, and played a stomping set, again joined by Beatsworkin and crew. While Beatsworkin have put on massive nights at H Bar and other venues for the last 3 years, they have recently moved to a larger venue. However, we have grabbed them back for the annual Halloween bash and they will be joined by some fantastic local djs and 2 superb London based Tech House Legends: DARREN ROACH & TOM BAKER Advance Tickets for the event are an incredibly great value: £4 each. MOTD and the venue will open from 8pm - 3.30am. Keep this free and get those spooky costumes ready, as, those that have been to the H Bar Halloween parties before, will know this will be another excellent night! TOM BAKER: Like with many of his contemporaries it was the explosion of the heady acid house movement across London in the late 1980s that was to be the decisive influence over Tom Baker’s musical direction. His earlier years growing up had been influenced by his family of Jazz musicians and these new sounds pulsing from urban warehouses shook his musical belief system to the core. With this combination of experiences he was to emerge with a focus for forward thinking, original house and techno and an underlying interest in sonics and dance-floor dynamics. Toms production work harnesses this ethos, producing solo or, more commonly, with Lawrence Mohammed. With so many releases currently filling the shelves of our record shops, Tom’s production aesthetic is specifically of quality over quantity. His occasional releases enjoy a level of anticipation by his peers and consequently his music finds its way into the record boxes of DJs right across the Globe. This healthy attitude towards releasing and distributing his music is continued through to the close selection of record labels Tom has chosen his work to be delivered through. His debut release in 2003 was picked up by Terry Francis and Nathan Coles for their Wiggle imprint and subsequent releases have been signed to Brique Rouge and Wrong Recordings, not just dance floor tracks, but as licensing deals for compilation CDs in the UK and abroad endorse his strive for originality and quality of composition. First and foremost the DJ, Tom’s style was formed at a residency throughout 1991 at the Coliseum Club in London. His ear for strong new music and sense of timing went on to help him win Mixmag magazine’s first ever DJ competition, selected from over 1000 entries. By the mid 1990s he was playing guest spots in the legendary main rooms of The Ministry of Sound and Bagley’s Film Studios as well as his ever busy schedule playing to the more humble clubs and bars in and around London. In the late 1990s Tom committed to a bi-monthly residency with the Sound Architecture organisation in Holland, and the door to the developing global underground house scene was opened. He soon found himself frequenting the shores of many eastern European Countries, Asia and The Far East, entertaining ever-growing audiences within these emerging scenes. By 2000 this had lead to headline gigs in North and South America as well as continued trips all over Europe. Back in his home town Tom has recently delighted the crowds at Fabric, The Egg, Cargo and Turnmills. His sets could be described as soulful, deep, driving or funky, but will inspire passion and a rapturous reaction, playing to the party whilst equally striking into the hearts of the chin-strokers. DARREN ROACH: London born and bred Darren Roach has been an integral part of the UK club scene since the halcyon days of ’88. A veteran of London’s clubbin mafia at the age of 15 he was gracing the decks of (then) top London clubs such as MoS, Club UK and The Limelight, quickly gaining recognition amongst his peers as one of the most technically advanced Djs of his generation After-hour parties and big events have been a main source for Darren's musical output. Captivating a beautiful collection of friends and experiences, from which he embraced and most importantly learnt from. This knowledge would then go on to mould Darren's musical ability as a DJ to work a crowd. Throughout the last 15 years Darren had the pleasure of playing and supporting some of the world’s leading underground DJS and live including Carl Cox, Derek May, Juan Atkins, Kevin Sanderson, Masters at work, Front 242, Carl Craig live, Darren Roach has travelled the globe and DJ’d at some of the world’ s best clubs and festivals in countries such as America, Australia, China, Russia, Turkey, Croatia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Holland, Ukraine, Belgium, France, Spain, and Sweden playing in events like Dance Valley Amsterdam, Global Tendencies festival San Sebastian, Impulse outdoor festival Holland, Creamfields Istanbul, Taj Mahal Czech republic, The Millennium party in Sydney, DV Amnesia Ibiza, la Cova Barcelona, Sancho Panza(Carnival) Isle of MTV party Croatia and special events like Massive Attacks V.I.P After Party in Istanbul. In 2002 Darren took on the role as Head of Press and Promotion at Intergroove UK. Plugging and pushing the underground sound to a bigger audience. Labels that broke to the fore purely because of the support that Darren gave them include: Get Physical, Moon Harbour, Morris audio, Connoisseur, Cocoon, Tuning Spork, Systematic, Great Stuff and Immigrant to name but a few... In 2007 Darren Roach launches Electronic Body Movement - EBM - a new special night which has been kicking ass amongst the East London warehouse scene that was followed swiftly by residencies at Egg Club London and 54. With quality DJ line ups that have included some of the best underground DJ’s from across the globe. Artist such as Lee Burridge, Kenny Hawkes, Colin Dale,Pete Herbert (UK). Dan Curtin, Jan Eric Kaiser (Germany). Jerome Sydneham (USA), Raoul Belmans, DJ Prinz (Belgium) Jerome Pacman (France) have graced the decks of EBM. EBM has gone onto gain out most respect from both the dance music industry and press culminating in September 2007 with a “covermount” mix CD for industry bible DJ Mag. DJ Mag has described Darren Roach as "the Lord of Groove".....As an artist Darren has always looked for sounds that can only be described as different!!! But, this is where the special talents of Darren really come into play, by bringing in subliminal mixes of different styles and elements based around Electronic house, keeping crowds on their feet, and good feelings inside. Originality and Quality music is the key to Darren Roach's success.
